Talula's

About

Pizza. Bread. Bar.

Description

Talula's is a restaurant and bar offering vibrant, flavorful dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. There is a full bar. Specialties include sourdough pizza, seasonal toasts, salads and bowls. Artisinal sourdough bread is baked fresh in house daily using organic and locally sourced grains from a mill in upstate NY. The pizza dough is also naturally fermented making it as much about the crust as it is about the fresh, seasonal toppings. Everything at Talula's is made from scratch, using the best, freshest quality ingredients possible. We pickle, ferment, preserve, bake, make all of our own ice cream and most of our dairy and vegan cheeses in house.

Stopped by here around lunch on a weekend so the place was really busy. The atmosphere was great and staff was very friendly and attentive. I shared two pizzas with some friends and both were good, not great. The arugula drowned out the other flavors on the Rocket pie and both probably could’ve been cooked a little longer. Still very fresh ingredients and a good selection of pizzas and other food to give it a try.
I recently dined at an Italian restaurant, and while the vibe was undeniably good, there were a few aspects that left room for improvement. The ambiance of the restaurant created a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere, setting the tone for a pleasant evening. However, I'd advise making reservations on weekends, as the demand seems high. Unfortunately, due to the busy evening, my party ended up having to sit at the bar. This was a bit disappointing, as we had hoped for a more traditional dining table experience. When it came to the food, I must admit that I found it to be average at best. While the menu had potential and offered a variety of Italian dishes, the execution didn't quite meet my expectations. The flavors were somewhat lackluster, and the dishes didn't leave a lasting impression. Similarly, the drinks failed to stand out, falling short of the kind of flavor and creativity that I was hoping for. In conclusion, while the Italian restaurant had a positive ambiance and a lively vibe, the overall experience left me wanting more. With potential for improvement in both the food and drink offerings, I hope to see the establishment reach greater heights in the future.
Talula’s is a small sized pizza joint where the selling point is organic or locally sourced everything. It’s got an inventive menu pictured of toast, pasta, salad or pizza. It’s also got cocktails and a good range of beers. On arriving, we were told by the hostess to expect an hour wait. Or maybe 35 minutes. But did we want to sit at the bar? We said yes. We did ask her if a table opened up to let us know - she proceeded to ask for a phone number and dial in an hour wait on her terminal, rather than walk the five steps to just tell us, so we gave up. I make this point because it was a bad experience in an otherwise great night. Sitting at the bar was awesome. Jake, our barman recommended drinks, and steered us on deserts. The pizzas are a good personal size and arrived quickly - we had barely started our drinks! The cocktails are well made and balanced. Some are pre-mixed in part, but that’s normal for fast service and there’s still good care taken. The range is good and the few we tried were delicious. The pizzas - a pepperoni and a “bee keepers lament” were delicious. A light, charred crust and fresh ingredients. The bee keeper is so flavorful that it was pretty overpowering by the end. The deserts too are huge, sweet and delicious. We had the key lime pie, served in a huge glass, and the blueberry cobbler and corn ice cream - refreshing and sickly sweet at the same time. We left over- full and very happy with our choices. Talula’s is a fun hang, it’s unpretentious and the food and drinks great.
This restaurant was SO GREAT! We came here after spending the day at the beach and it was the perfect way to end the day. We ordered the New Yorker and added pepperoni as well as the Some People Call Me Maurice and WOW. That was especially surprising! Who would've thought to put peaches on a pizza?!? So tasty! I also ordered their house made palmer with their pineapple agua fresca and it was so refreshing! 10/10 would recommend.
We absolutely loved this funky pizza restaurant located on Cookman in Asbury Park . Fresh mozzarella cheese, brick oven pizza really hits the spot . perfectly charred crust ! The service was great from our waitress who was so friendly and very accommodating .Food: 5/5
The food is always top notch. The vibe is cool, be prepared for everything. The hostess was so nice and sat us at a table instead of the bar because she understood I couldn’t handle it. The kale Cesar is fantastic. Some people call me Maurice pizza with jalapeños peaches and riggot was a phenomenal pairing.Food: 5/5
Went before a concert to Asbury Park and enjoyed the food...al pastor pizza is delicious and their cookie smash dessert is awesome and that's coming from a non dessert guy. Just a note their calzone is done in the same crust as pizza so if you were looking for a traditional calzone this is not it. Not saying it tasted bad just different than what I was expecting.
Loved the pizza! We were in a hurry so we didn't stay to eat! Loved the ambiance, design, and branding of the placeFood: 5/5
Great pizzas! It was nice to see a restaurant committed to the use of organic flour and listing the providers from each of their ingredients cheeses are made in house. Their blueberry bun was a great dessert.Food: 5/5
Still great but didn’t hold up to last visit. There were 3-4 staff hanging around and talking at the front, while what appeared to be a lack of servers, struggled to tend to patrons. The pizza, drinks and our server were excellent…but it wasn’t the same experience.
