For those who are needing to install a car seat correctly please stop by the district 2 location. The police officers here are very friendly and patient. They took the time to explain everything to my husband and I. Thank you so much again!!
Took like 3-5 minutes for them to find someone who speaks Spanish and the cops still haven't arrived to my house. There was a car outside who could've done something to us, but thank goodness they left after... 40 minutes?!
I went 3 time to this station, unfortunately never helped. Everytime I want to report a essue in the neighborhood, they always respond me is not necessary , you don't need to do a police report, very disappointed. We pay a lot taxes for this service.
Tampa police department is not what you expect them to be , they find every excuse to either brother the homeless or take them to jail. why not sit down with them an ask what do you need help with, what can i get you . not say get a job or sit on the side of the road and die. TAMPA POLICE DEPARTMENT rather see you down than to see you making an opportunity to get up and make a dollar. why judge them because they are homeless, you know how many killings are out here daily, how many people getting rubbed, how many people are going through something and you give the homeless people more problems than anything. i had a officer lie to my face not 1 time but 2 or more and got upset because they got caught in a lie. what has happened to the police department people use to be able to call for help the homeless people use to be able to say your department was a good department. children are become less afraid of your department, children are feeling like they can come up to an officer and ask question any more because officer are being disrespectful, rude, sarcastic, useless, waste of time, no problem solver...
I have called our local officers many times over the last 25 years, usually to report things like strangers casing a neighbors house, drunk drivers, outsiders causing drama in my neighborhood. They have generally been polite to me, taking what I say seriously. Perhaps it is because I was also polite, didn't yell or insult them, etc. It is hard to be calm when you have been attacked or are the victim of a crime, but people tend to respond to the tone of our words even more than the content; cops are people 1st, cops 2nd. I hate to bring race into it, but it may play a role, I have no way of knowing. If you have been the victim of a crime, try to remain calm; panic only helps the one who hurt you. Remember the dispatcher has a stressful and largely thankless job. Be concise. Try to give as much detail as you can remember. Be patient. And if the police violate your rights, sue their pants off. :- And I'm saddened to read about all of ya'll who had trouble with TPD. I hope it gets better for you.
Tampa PD has been called repeatedly to Sober Living America to remove residents who damaged property and threatened to kill or hurt other residents. Despite destruction of property, Tampa PD has repeatedly refused to remove residents who break the agreement they signed with Sober Living, upon which their residency is contingent, and have even laughed in the director's face for being supportive of the 12-step program. Several officers who have come by have also insisted that threatening to kill someone is protected speech under the First Amendment; it is in fact a felony punishable of up to five years imprisonment. But these officers insisted to Sober Living residents that the state of Florida allows it, unlike any other state in the union. The TPD at this location are consistently contemptuous toward and dismissive of those of us working to better ourselves and have done more to keep us in danger by forcing us to continue to reside alongside people in active addiction and alcoholism than they have to help us keep this a safe space for sobriety. That they would literally laugh at the program and then try to insist that the state of Florida is some magical place where credible threats of violence are protected speech makes me wonder just why the heck these guys would become cops if they had no intention of protecting the peace.
I am the Director of New Beginnings of Tampa Transitional Housing Program in Sulfer Springs, I have several responses to the previous comments, but as a Christian, I'll just pray for you. I have to call this station all the time, we are in a drug infested area, our clients relapse and occasionally turn ugly. I have never had a problem having a client removed, trespassed, even occasionally arrested. The words murder, suicide, or kill have always brought a swift and complete response. The only question I have ever been asked is what our zoneing/ license is. Then off the problem goes. God Bless you men and women of TPD, HCSO, FHP, and your brother, and sister officers everywhere. Remember... To get respect you must first give respect.
Have had someone texting and calling for 2 months..made one police report from home..it stopped for about 4 weeks...woke up this morning to about 15 text of just verbal assault. Googled the phone number found out the persons name and address. Received a text that said youve brought a knife to a gun fight ...however not sure why we are fifhting. Asked the person to leave me alone and he said bang bang your dead...then another bang bang... And then sent a ceazy smiley emolji...i of course freaked out and drove to the police dept on 30th. Explained whats transpired and was told because i had text back i was going to the police it was banter and would not do a police report. Then she told me we where childish and that it was just words..i said what if he kills me and she said you " you dont even know if he has a gun..then mocked me..she said i would not get a restraining order because a judge would think it was juevinile and its just banter. I stood there in disbelief and said " well if he shoots me i hope you will be able to sleep at night... .she got very angry and distorted her face and grunted..and i left... Im in disbelief at our world and the entitlement ppl think they have.. Its all very disgusting and disappointing...
Calling is good but the police here suck to be honest especially for child abuse reasons honestly im 15 years old the police came by and did not help at all they came to make sure i have peace for what if i have been abused city people its better in the county less trouble more help the county respond quicker than police. The police takes 16:00 minutes to respond the sherrif take 3:00 minutes to respond like what is up with the police they did not even help in my behalf i told them to play video and he did not at all the sherrif would play it though. I hate the police here now and i still live in a abusive household now abuse as in she would try to drown me with water hose and choke me to death police only cared what the abuser did she always wins she says i lie and police believe her and she is my aunt but my legal guardian she is the one who lies not me. They took over a hour to come out to my 67 year old grandmother's house to investigate numerous malicious acts have been done to her property. They have cameras set up in her complex that stream directly to their office but no one bothers to even look at them. Protect and servr is joke!
