Finally got around to trying out the Afternoon Tea, and we were not disappointed in the slightest! All of the food was really great - and we were surprised at the amount of food we received! We left full and very happy. We especially loved the Sipping Chocolate - so much so, that we bought the Peruvian chocolate shavings to make it at home! It was just my mom and I this time around, but we will definitely be bringing family and friends back in the future!
Lovely afternoon tea service. Nice variety of tasty sandwiches and treats. We almost had the place to ourselves, scheduling our tea time after the lunch rush. Tea selection is rather small, and we ended up opting for the sipping chocolate - which is delicious, but best sipped while hot. As it cooled it got even more thick - more like a pudding. Taste 117 offers the best food & value I've experienced at Afternoon Tea in Utah, so far. I've also been to Grand America and Auntie Rae's, both in Salt Lake City. I wish Taste117 were in Salt Lake so I could frequent it more often.
First time trying this place. Very unique and a little fancy atmosphere. They don’t have high chairs at all. They have a smaller menu. We tried every sandwich. My favorite sandwich was the spanakopita. We also each got their season soup which was white cheddar cauliflower and it was absolutely delicious. We tried the scones which weren’t even really scones, they were more like biscuits. We also tried the molten cake and the s’mores dessert. The molten cake was good and moist but didn’t have any chocolate that oozed out like molten cakes usually have. The s’mores dessert was so dang good though and it was unique. My 2 favorite things we got was the soup and the s’mores dessert.
I found a new happy place today. Truly this was a perfect experience and improved my whole day. I have always loved a dedicated dessert restaurant, but this was exceptional. The decor is perfect, upscale mid century with open view to the chocolate factory on site where all the delicious chocolate is produced. The service was friendly and gave recommendations from experience. Finally, the dessert so amazing I ordered extras to go and give to others. The S’more was incredible, as was the molten chocolate cake we ate later. 10/10 recommend :
Had a great time at our tea time reservation. The menu changes monthly. Everyone had a different favorite. We had 3 savory items, scones with jam and marscapone, as well as 4 sweet items.
The chocolate in the Historic Provo bar was great, but the dried cherries were just whole, right in the center of the bar. It would have been amazing, had there been smaller pieces throughout, so I could get the chocolate and little bits of cherry, instead of a mouthful of either/or. And, why is there a bar named after pretty much every landmark/well-known area in the valley, besides BYU. Seems like a missed opportunity, and definitely on purpose.
We visited for a tour, chocolate tasting and vinegar/oil tasting. Paul was our host and did an excellent job. He gave us a very thorough tour and answered all of our questions. It was impressive to see how chocolate is made at a local place. For the tasting we learned the proper technique of breaking the chocolate to hear the proper temper, warming it between your fingers and smelling it and then allowing it to melt on your tongue. We tasted a variety of darknesses, flavors and origins. Each had a unique twist. My favorite was the gunpowder chocolate that is infused with Carolina reaper peppers. It was a unique experience. We also tried some of their chocolate herbal tea. It was mild and very pleasant. Then we tried the vinegars and oils. They were exceptional. Especially the lemon infused olive oil with the cherry vinegar. Last we tried some ice cream with strawberries drizzled with tangerine infused oil and cherry vinegar. It was incredible. Just remarkable. I would definitely recommend going here and trying it yourself. What a great experience.
This place was so delightful to visit!!! The interior design made me feel like I was actually in France. The staff were super friendly and made it even more of an enjoyable experience. I cannot have chocolate of any kind, but they were very accommodating to my needs. The food combinations were very delicious and filling! I definitely found one of my new favorite spots!!!
We went to Taste for dessert. My wife loved the atmosphere. They make their own chocolate their and make their desserts from scratch. We got the S’mores Taste Style and Molten Cake. For me the chocolate was too dark and needed more sugar but my wife thought it was perfect.
I did mini chocolate tasting and cheese and chocolate fondue experience. Mini chocolate tasting was ok experience and they did ask us about dietary restrictions. It was for 15 mins and gave us 6 samples. She read out of paper about the chocolates and didn't have much knowledge. But the fondue experience was unsatisfactory and very disappointing. Experience was supposed to be at 7PM, we were served at 7:30PM. Cheese fondue plate was served with meat when I'm vegetarian. The menu doesn't specify what's served, they didn't ask us dietary restrictions like they did for mini chocolate tour. When I told the server I don't eat meat she didn't take back the plate and said if we can remove them ourselves and she said her hands were not clean! The service was slow, servers were not knowledgeable, after serving they just went behind kitchen doors and nobody is around if you need anything. The cheese pan was just warm but not enough to make the cheese warm so it was kind of solid. The candle below the pan is for cosmetic look and our candle wick was almost out and lasted a minute after serving. We mentioned to the server about the candle and she said it's just cosmetic look so doesn't matter if it's out. Overall very sour experience and wouldn't recommend.
