Teaching Assistants Union at Western Michigan University (TAU 1729)
The TAU at Western Michigan University serves as the voice of the teaching assistants employed in all departments campus wide. Foremost, TAU bargains for this body's contract that regulates the pay, working conditions, and rights of all teaching assistants. Additionally, TAU stands as a social organization to create solidarity amongst departments, stewards, and members while educating the university and surrounding community regarding union and labor needs.
"We, the members of the Teaching Assistants Union at Western Michigan University, having been authorized in a democratic election validated by the State of Michigan as the legal representative of our constituency for the purposes of collective bargaining, hereby commit ourselves to fostering participatory democracy in our university and community."
-Preamble of the TAU Constitution
