The TAMIU Student Government Association works toward further developing our campus and improving the processes that impede progress for our institution. Comprised of three branches, similar to the political system of the United States, we have an executive branch, which oversees the development of the organization, the judicial branch, which oversees the adherence to the constitution, and the legislative branch, made up of various representatives who speak on behalf of their respective college in various matters that affect our campus. The Student Government Association is made up of students from all different majors, classifications, and perspectives and that is what makes this group one of the most unique and influential on campus.
In order to provide an officially recognized student representative body, to provide the official voice of the student body of the University, to provide the official voice through which student opinion is expressed, promote the rights of each student of the University, promote student participation in the overall policy and decision-making processes of the University, promote awareness of the students’ role in the academic community, enhance the quality and scope of education at the University, ask for and receive questions and suggestions from the University Community, provide means for responsible and effective participation in all facets of campus life, promote the general welfare of the student body, identify and represent student interests
