The Textile Arts Council is a support group dedicated to advancing appreciation for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco’s textile arts collection.
The TEXTILE ARTS COUNCIL was created more than twenty years ago to advance the appreciation of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco’s textile and costume collection. As an affiliate organization of the Museums, we support the activities and programs of the Caroline and H. McCoy Jones Department of Textile Arts at both the de Young and the Legion of Honor. The collection is comprised of more than twelve thousand objects from a broad spectrum of textile arts.
The TEXTILE ARTS COUNCIL (TAC) built the TAC Endowment Fund. The fund is used for the regular purchase of objects that enrich the Museums’ textile and costume collection and in the development of the T. B. Walker Foundation Textile Education Gallery and the Joan Diehl McCauley Textile Study Center, both located at the de Young.
We provide programs, workshops, events and travel opportunities for artists, designers, aficionados and collectors of ethnic textiles, rugs, tapestries, Western costume, and contemporary fiber art.
