In Manhattan in 1965, there was no place where people could go out to meet friends and make new ones in an environment that was at once both relaxed and yet exciting. Then, Alan Stillman opened Fridays as a way, he said, “to meet Pan Am stewardesses.” Suddenly, there was a place with great food, new and exciting drinks and an electric energy. A place where bartenders mixed the environment just as well as they mixed drinks. In short, a place like nowhere else. Today, Fridays in Mount Pleasant, SC is still America’s most iconic bar and grill. We embrace and celebrate our heritage as a bar. It has been a while since I've eaten at Friday's since the one near me closed. We stopped in for lunch on the way back to Charleston from MBSC. They weren't very busy, so we sat in the bar area. My Sis ordered the Cajun pasta and strawberry lemonade. I ordered Buffalo wings as an appetizer along with a mint julep that they were advertising. Both were good. The mint julep was surprisingly really good Derby mode activated! For my entrée, I got fried shrimp, fries, and double steamed broccoli. Everything was pretty good. The broccoli wasn't double steamed, but it also wasn't hard, so I didn't send it back. I had water and the passionfruit margarita very good! they advertised, to drink. Overall, everything hit the spot.
I usually don’t give reviews but I am one that checks them. We should have turned around when we walked to the door due to the amount of trash and cigarette butts in the parking area. They had a portable AC unit hooked up. It took an hour to get our food when the restaurant only had 4 other tables. They looked short staffed which may have accounted for the long wait for our food. We ordered multiple entrees and none were good. Very standard. Service was ok but she had too many tables. You can tell that the restaurant has been there a while as ables and chairs were very worn. There are so many other options in this area that would probably be better.
My friend and I are on a “mini cation” in the Mt. Pleasant area and since we had great service AND food the last time, wanted to eat here again. We weren’t disappointed! We were seated promptly and the hostess had a pleasant smile. Jay, our Server, was the best! He took our drink orders and came back shortly to take our food orders. I ordered the Warm Pretzels $9.99 and the Potato Skins $10.xx as last time and both were tasty! My friend ordered the Whiskey basted Sampler $17.99 and he enjoyed immensely. It wasn’t too busy on a Saturday night.
their food was good but nasty, the wings smelled like liquor, the mash potatoes was dry, it took an hour for us to get the food, & they don’t get everything at the same time. for an example: they were supposed to get my to go box & bags but they only came with the box but they could’ve just brought the bags with the box, they were just sitting there. & that’s why i give this restaurant a 1 star review.
The food was great. It came out nice and hot and it tasted wonderful. The staff on the other hand was terrible. My boyfriend and I just wanted to have a nice and enjoyable date night. Unfortunately, the night we went there was apparently only two staff working the whole restaurant. And we had waited 30 minutes just to be seated. A big problem was they sat us in the bar area. We then had our order taken. But being in the bar area was a problem was the bartender did not stop asking us if we wanted drinks I told him I can not drink because I had surgery coming up. My boyfriend had told him no multiple times only because he did not want to drink and drive. After we had gotten our food and had been waiting around for a while, I look over in the restaurant area and see there is two other people working, but somehow they couldn’t sit us in the restaurant area. As we were about to pay the check and leave the bartender came over again and gave my boyfriend a drink after he had already said no for the tenth time. They then tried to charge us for the drink when my boyfriend didn’t even drink it.
The host sat me at a table that did not have an assigned waitress. I sat for 15 mins waiting to be acknowledged as several waitresses walked passed without acknowledging us being that we were the only one's sitting in that particular area. I had to ask the bar tender for assistance and she advised that there's not an available waitress for that particular section, which we were seated by the hostess; but she was willing to assist. Whoever manages this location, truly need to have a team meeting. This was one of my favorite spots; but now, the service has gone down the drain. To say it wasn't crowded at all, this was very disappointing.
We won't be going here anymore. The staff needs improvement . We waited at the front door for 10mins and spoke to the bartender and he told us to have a seat. After we sat down it was another 10mins before someone saw us but that was after we tried to get 2 black girls attention they looked at us and turned their back and continued their conversation. A different young lady took our order but took it so fast she got it wrong. My cousin asked for a well-done burger, why did the girl write down rare!!? The burger still had a name it was so rare!! We ended off taking it off our order they took forever to make us a new one. Smh We would understand if they were busy but from what I saw there was a party of 6, us 2ppl and a family of 2 with a baby. The food alone won't be the reason the ppl come to this location. Vegetarian options: Need more stuff other than impossible burger
The place was not busy at all. I think two other parties dining. I walked in and the hostess said there is a 15 minute wait and walked off. We ordered an appetizer to share. It tasted like it sat in the garbage for two weeks and was pulled out and reheated for us. It was awful. I will never go back. The staff there we not remarkable but not rude either. Our waitress was pleasant and I actually feel sorry for her because she needs to work somewhere where the food matches her skill set. Needless to say after three bites I was done and we were All sick the next day. My bill was $75 for two appetizer and two margaritas.
We’ve literally been here since 6:50 pm, and part of our order cam out at 8:15 pm, another 2 orders at 8:30pm, and my order is still not here. We have a party of 7, and I’m the only one in our party not eating. We’ve waited so long, and those who got food, food wasn’t cooked correctly or burnt. This has literally been the worst experience thus far. We will not be returning after hearing the kitchen staff yelling and cussing at each other, and ignoring the waitress we had, who continues to request my food.. At this point I’m afraid to eat it if it comes out in fear of someone doing something to my food out of anger. It looks like this restaurant is always short staffed, and the lady seating people seemed racist towards us because she refused to seat us at 6 pm when we first arrived.. She made us wait until 6:50pm, and continued to seat all white parties of 3, which was unfair. I’m very disappointed Food finally came out at exactly 8:43pm and it looks old and stale..
We went in yesterday to eat with the family and expected a pleasant experience. Our food took over an hour, the chicken tenders were hard as a rock, and the bartender decided to take it upon herself to come over to our table and be very confrontational about the fact that we could not put a shot of vodka in a apple martini even though the single shot was for me and my mom had the martini. Then she stood there with a mean face like she was ready to fight. All in all it's prob the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The fact that it took so long and everyone wad do mad we ended up having to rush home to get our baby to sleep when we were trying to take him and the family to the beach afterwords. Horrible horrible place to eat and would never recommend to anyone. When I told the Manger in a nice way she just simply said we talked to her and offered no help or didn't take anything off the bill. Please do not go
