Formed from a passionate love of the American South and all of its eccentricities and creations, the Art of Dixie is a gallery located in downtown New Albany, Mississippi where the fabled Tallahatchie River runs through our state's green, rolling, hill country region. We opened the gallery as a permanent fixture in 2013 in order to give our local artists a place to show their work, as well as give those from and traveling through the region a place to view and enjoy it...and possibly take it home as their own. Once the gallery was opened we found that our area not only had a wealth of artists who we had never met, but a wealth of folks with good eyes for art who loved to showcase the art that they had curated from the estate sales, roadsides, sale barns and auctions of the region. With a vision to empower sustainable occupations in both art creation and the curating of art, we decided to start theartofdixie.com.
Our mission is to grow and enhance the world of original southern artwork, products and found objects by bringing the providers and consumers of art together through a thoughtfully curated marketplace. From intriguing oil paintings, folk art and fine art, to handmade furniture, apparel and cosmetics, this is the place to find authentic, unique, and often wondrous, works and products from the deep south.
While the gallery opened in September 2013, we've been exploring the South our whole lives, creating, finding and cherishing items and wishing to share the joy they bring to us. As they say, timing is everything and now it's time to bring the art of the south, the Art of Dixie, to you. Enjoy!
