I am so disappointed with BLOUNT MEMORIAL UROLOGY DEPARTMENT. Kidney stones left in pain for almost a month and almost losing my job. I had no pay for all the time off I have to take. I had to insist on surgery. Secondly all communication by computer only with no considerations of the patient. More than once the computer scheduled an appointment which I was not notified or confirmed. If this place is so busy to not take care of patients and communicate then something better needs to be done by procedures. The office manager hung up on me today. My rating of this department is -10...
Let's start by saying, the staff were very kind to us. This is my mom's 3rd visit to this ER in a week. All three times she was brought back to do testing but was always returned back to the waiting area. She has been sitting in a wheel chair for over 7 hours with excuse after excuse in sever pain. And don't forget the sign in the waiting area that says to be patient. Hahaha, big joke!!! We have been more than patient, is there even a doctor here????? How do you run this place??? Do better Blount Memorial Hospital!!!
After a procedure, they moved my daughter to another floor. Staff assured me they would bring up her belongings, which they did….except for her shoes. Long story short, she walked out of the hospital in socks! It was determined they would not compensate because “no one saw her wear them in.” REaLLY??? I guess it is now recommended to take a picture of yourself entering their facility. Someone got them a pretty nice pair of Nike shoes!
We recently had our little girl at the family birthing center at Blount memorial, and couldn’t have been more impressed! From the time we arrived to the time we left we felt so cared for and supported by the team of nurses and doctors. If and when we ever have another child we already know which hospital we will be going to! Special thanks to all the nurses who helped us, Thank you Evan, Cassie, Destiny, Lenee. A special special thanks to nurse Shannon, we felt so lucky to have her on our team and felt like she was so attentive to my wife’s needs. On top of the amazing nursing staff we want to thank Dr. Johnson and Dr. Ballard. They were sweet, informative and helpful to both of us. We are so thankful to Blount memorial!
My father has been admitted to BMH for over a month from Covid complications. He has been in SICU for several days/weeks and the nursing staff has been incredible for the most part very communicative, helpful, and reassuring that we were doing the right things to speed his time to recovery. Alli LPN , Kim, and Eddy were by far the best nursing staff we've experienced. The surgeonDr. Budayr that worked on my father did not come in to speak to us after his procedure or give any updates on how he did while under general anaesthesia. Also the doctor came across as being aggravated when asked additional questions outside of the benefits of the procedure.
Unfortunately, this is not a good review. My wife severed the tip of her finger this morning. A friend took her to BMER before I could intervene. It is clear that this ER has not been updated and is not prepared as a trauma facility. The entrance is located in a corner where access is the worst of any of the entire hospital. Ambulances are forced to do a multipoint U turn just to get out for the driveway. Eight to ten very usable and the most accessible/close parking spots are blocked off with no explanation to why. Once we were in the treatment room, I felt like we were in a closet and I can only hope that it was a closet being temporarily used for patient care. The lack of supplies at the nurses access is alarming. We never saw a doctor and the nurses were very hesitant to make any decisions without a nurse practitioner's okay. I am so glad that this was not a life threatening emergency. My wife ended up going to a different emergency med center later in the day because the open wound tip of her finger, that was wrapped with mesh and gauze, had started bleeding badly a few hours later.. That doctor asked why they didn't xray the finger to see if the bone had been cut..... great question.. Had we asked, I'm sure that they would have obliged us. Understaffed, under experienced? Doesn't matter. This is Blount County's main medical facility and it was not good.
Beware. If I would’ve had a choice, I would have heeded the advice of most here and not gone to Blount ER. A biking accident left me with a wound on my knee that eventually required 11 stitches. I was stitched up in the hallway and left to myself to clean the dried blood from my leg/wound. The PA was very good. I didn’t have major issues until my bill came. I then asked for a received and itemized statement. When I called to have the charges explained, I learned that a syringe used to administer a numbing medicine that cost $36.00 costs $146.00! For a syringe full of the medicine I paid for. This is just one example. Folks, if you can, go elsewhere!!
Mediocre care at BEST. I've been prescribed penicillin for an infection that it wasn't applicable to, and I'm sure it is because the nurse practitioner I saw didn't believe me when I said I had an allergy. spoiler alert: I do. had to call and say that I was experiencing severe symptoms before being put on hold for 45 mins to get a new antibiotic prescribed. The women's care group is AWFUL. I go there regularly for a shot, and because I am young, I get judgemental looks from all the staff. I've been given the wrong size needle, had to be stuck 3 times by a FIRST DAY nurse, and shamed regularly for being on birth control for my excruciating period pain. the first time I was prescribed the shot, the lady looked at me and said that it wasn't a contraceptive, so I shouldn't "go looking for teen pregnancy." she deliberately lied to me, as it was a contraceptive as well as a pain management tool. only found out 3 months later at my second appointment.
Do not go here. The staff do not pay attention to people and their needs. They just want your money. They charge you just to sit in the lobby essentially. I will be filing a grievance against the hospital and disputing a bill. They sent me a letter threatening that my debt would go to collections when I hadn't even gotten a bill!
Worst hospital around! 3 different times was sent home with chest pain. They said it was only stress. The 4th time more severe I went to UT. Turns out I had a 4mm PE blood clot in my left lung. Don't go to Blount for chest pain, they will kill you!
