Description

The Bar Method™ is a one-hour total body workout comprised of muscle strengthening and stretching techniques partially performed at the ballet bar, strategically choreographed and executed to music. The system is designed to create a uniquely lean, firm, sculpted body by combining the muscle-shaping principles of isometrics, the body-elongating practice of
ballet dance conditioning, the science of physical therapy, and the intense pace of interval training.

Mission

Burr Leonard has been practicing and improving on the exercises that now make up The Bar Method exercise system since 1991 when she and Carl Diehl opened their first exercise studio in Greenwich, Connecticut.
In 2000 they founded The Bar Method, Inc. and opened their flagship studio in San Francisco in 2001. They have built and franchised many Bar Method studios around the country and have produced seven exercise DVDs.

I have enjoyed every instructor I have been to here. They are all super nice and make an effort to know everyone in the classes name which I feel like is something you don’t get other places. They are also very experienced. The classes are hard but rewarding and overall I feel very comfortable here!

It’s hard to put into words just how much I love this place. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by name and the staff is always so friendly and excited to see you. It’s not just a fitness studio, it’s a community, and a wonderful place to go workout at every day. The classes are fun, have great music, and the teachers are so engaged with the studio and keep you motivated. I’ll be coming here for years to come!
I can’t say enough positive about Bar Method Salt Lake. The owner, Carrie, and her thoughtfully selected instructors and staff have managed to create a sense of community like nowhere else I’ve experienced. They are professional, knowledgeable and provide a safe and highly effective workout every single time. I started Bar Method classes when they opened in Utah seven years ago and have had a membership since. It’s the one thing in my budget that is non-negotiable! Bar Method creates long and lean muscle tone...you’ll see and feel a difference in your body fast. I love how my body looks and feels and notice when I have to miss for any reason. A definite recommend for anyone!
I attend The Bar Method 4 to 5 times a week and it is my favorite way to start the day. I love the instructors and staff at the studio. They are incredibly friendly and really care about the well-being of everyone in class. I love the way the exercises push me and continue to be difficult even though I have been attending classes for more than two years. I also love that we stretch after every set of exercises. Stretching feels like a reward for working so hard and I've seen my flexibility increase significantly over time. If you are looking for a challenging, low-impact workout, The Bar Method may be perfect for you. Give it a try!
I am overwhelmed with gratitude for The Bar Method and what a positive role it has played in my life for the past 8 months that I have been part of this community. I am convinced that no other type of fitness format can so thoughtfully challenge, strengthen, and simultaneously celebrate the body and mind. Carrie and the rest of the amazing and highly-trained instructors care about their clients not only as barre enthusiasts, but as individual people. The growth I have experienced in the past 8 months alone has largely been a result of the encouragement I have received from everyone at The Bar Method; it makes me want to eventually become an instructor so that I can help spread the joy! Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of The Bar Method is its ability to transform other parts of everyday life. I sleep, think, and feel better with The Bar Method as a constant in my life. And the things that I love, like skiing and competitive swimming, are easier and more enjoyable. I can't recommend The Bar Method enough. I am forever thankful that my friend and I gave The Bar Method a chance--you should too!
The Bar Method is by far my favorite place to get a good workout. The teachers and staff are amazing! They are very professional and highly trained. They always offer support and encouragement to ensure that every student, regardless of skill/fitness level is challenged to the right level of difficulty. The classes are tailored to individual needs and appropriate modifications are offered to those in need. I have been a member for over a year and attend classes 5-7 days a week and absolutely love it!
