This was a Harvest Host stop for us. Convenient location and easy to get into. The store has so much! We got dinner and an amazing shake when we arrived. They opened at 7am the next day, so we grabbed breakfast for the road. Everyone was super friendly as well. We would definitely come back!
Love this place. A lot of New Merchandise I haven't seen since my last visit. They have a small coffee cafe to drink your beverage. You can order Deli sandwich meals. A wide selection of different food items. Variety of beverages. Candy section. Some books for children. A section that has shirts and gifts and etc. And amazing ice cream. Many areas to sit from indoor or outside. Public bathrooms. Offer daily specials. Really great place to stop at especially if your traveling or just passing by.
This place is ALWAYS delicious. Everyone is nice and helpful! Daytime during the week is best, because it's way too popular to go on the weekends! With that said, you can always call and order your sandwich before if you have to go on the weekends. Word to the wise, unless you're a competitive eater, you may not fit both the special shake AND one of their sandwiches easily. Each have to be at least a 1000 calories of deliciousness most weeks. Highly recommend if you like food or ice cream. Lol.
Battlefield Country Store is always a family treat. Love the set up from the outside seating to the inside. You order ice cream outside or inside and a coffee bar and deli in the back. The food never disappoints. Great spot to roll up with the family and grab picnic bench and chill. Recommend Garlic & Cheddar Cheese bread in the bakery section.
I had the Chick Chick Boom sandwich..."A superblend of Buffalo Sauce & Buttermilk Ranch topping our Kettle Fried Chicken, enhanced with Lettuce, Tomato, Provolone Cheese, and our Butter & Parmesan covered Bun." An incredibly good and incredibly gigantic sandwich. Seriously, it was so big I had a hard time getting a good bite at it. What a great place.
This is on our must stop list whenever we are in Fredericksburg! You cannot go wrong with ordering anything from the maid to order sandwich to the ice cream sundaes!!! The fresh made bakery items are always a hit!! if you’re a fan of pickles I would highly recommend getting them from here! The broccoli slaw is a 10/10!!
The ice cream, food, and drinks that you can get here are exceptional!! If you're thinking of trying this place out, then just come and try it. You won't be disappointed.
The Battlefield Country store is everything you would expect from a country store. The aisles are filled with packaged containers filled with deliciousness. A great example is the powdered cheese that can be used as a seasoning or sprinkled over popcorn, which is also carried in just the next alsie. While there don't miss out on lunch! The Battlefield Country store has the largest sandwiches around. Be sure to check the specials before ordering. On this visit the special was the roast beef sandwich with onion soup dipping sauce. The sandwich large enough that the two of us struggled to finish it.
We have loved Battlefield Store since the first day they opened. We live two miles away so we go there many times a week and buy all of our eggs and half/half there. They have struggled with supply issues since Covid but sadly the past six months have been terrible for finding anything. Very frustrating. They had peach milkshakes in April but we were told they were out for the rest of the summer. They had the best homemade bread but that item had never been replaced. We go three times a week and often find nothing that we wanted. Cold deli products seem to be the worst. Today I sent hubby for Cole slaw/crab salad/bread/deli sandwich…all they had was the sandwich. I also asked him to pick us up a Pumpkin anything drink from their coffee shop…everyone else has their fall drinks out but Battlefield was a no. Last week was the same…five items wanted..they only had four. I hope they get their act back together soon. Did they change ownership?
The sandwiches are pretty good but a bit pricey. The selection of everything else leaves much to be desired. Some staff members weren’t very helpful. I would say this is a more hipster version of a country store than an actual country store. EDIT: I was looking for more spices and pastries. There were spices and baked goods but, not as much as I’m accustomed to seeing. The pastry section was pretty sad; although I do understand that it’s the end of the week. The biggest issue was the lackadaisical response to questions at the coffee counter. As someone with a food allergy, I tend to have to ask a lot of questions. I understand it can be a hassle, it is for me too! I was even understanding of not knowing what was in the in-house baked goods; I’m not expecting you to have a recipe on hand. But, I asked about the ingredients in a few of the sauces/teas and the response was “I don’t know, probably??” It would’ve taken less than a minute to look over the labels; I don’t even mind reading them myself because it’s faster. I asked if there were any options that would accommodate my restrictions and I was told the energy drink things. Another customer pointed out that there were loose teas available.
