Gabriel Frankewich grew up in Georgia. An avid hunter and fisherman from a young age, he quickly learned how to use different knives and sharpen them as they became dull. During his service in the US Army, his friends and fellow soldiers went to him to put an edge back on their combat blades and multi-tools.
Gabriel, his wife, and four children moved to Beit Shemesh, Israel in 2014. He noticed the poor quality of some of the knives in the area, and realized people were throwing away perfectly good knives to buy new ones; they were wasting time and money on something he could fix for a fraction of the cost. After sharpening knives for a few friends, word started to get out. So, he made a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TheKnifeDr) to help showcase his work. His knowledge and expertise quickly caught the eye of many living in and around the area; soon he developed a Mobile Business designed with the customer in mind. The Knife Doctor traveled all over Israel sharpening knives for private chefs, event halls, caterers, and restaurants. Soon people were asking if he was able to sharpen shears; beauty shears, barber shears, grooming shears. So he extended his business to accommodate this request. He was widely known throughout Israel.
After nearly 3 years, Gabriel trained an individual to whom he sold The Knife Doctor business, and his family moved back to the US. Gabriel is so passionate about sharpening; he is bringing his knowledge and experience to the New York Capital Region as The Blade Doctor.
The Blade Doctor is available for home and commercial sharpening. He will come to your town, home, or business as a mobile service or you can schedule a time to drop off your knives at his home office.
