The sandwiches were awesome yet expensive! There is really no atmosphere or service to speak of since we served ourselves, but those sandwiches were incredible for coming out of a sandwich rack. The iced tea is very good too. Not too sweet. Wheelchair accessibility: I saw wheelchair ramps.
I had the vegan sandwich, it was soggy and inedible. My companion had the quinoa salad, which was a little better. The bottled drinks were very expensive, and weren't good. We got 2 chips and shared a cookie the best of all the bill was more than $40. Way too expensive. Eat before you arrive.Food: 1/5
Overpriced tourist food- only redeeming quality was there were OK Gluten-free options. I could actually order something reasonable.Food: 3/5
The bottled soda with cane sugar really made the lunch we had terrific! The sandwiches were wrapped in sandwich paper and felt slightly stale. But I think it authentic so it didn't ruin it much for me. Having the woods outside and bees humming, while we read quotes from Thomas Jefferson and others important to Monticello was quite inspiring. Loved it, overall. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian selection looked vast. I am no longer vegetarian but from experience I can say the menu reflected a respect for any who choose to eat in this fashion. Kid-friendliness: Staff in the diner and shop were very warm and kind to my children, others not so much... People will be people, I guess, but our kids were real troopers. It was a lot of walking around Monticello and no matter what anyone else thought, I think they did great! Not all paths are stroller friendly, and so I'm glad that we thought to leave that in our vehicle. Parking: Large vehicles beware! Our huge van 12 seater was very hard to find a decent spot for. It didn't help that their spots are not angled, or that many others were not parked particularly well... It was also a weekend which made it harder, no doubt. But since we pre-bought our tickets we were determined to make it work. Worth the effort... Amazing!
Better food than anticipated. Bit pricey though. Some things show neglect though. For example, all the carafes of coffee and tea water were warm at best. 30 minutes after being reminded by a customer, the staff still hasn't refreshed any of the carafes.Food: 4/5
Discovered new food and drinks that we both loved! Service was great. Prices were reasonable. Weather was great enough to sit outside.Food: 5/5
Prices are a little high and a lot of the food items were already sold out by the time we got there, which was okay since they would close two hours later. It was $14 for about half of a sub sandwich with ham. The potato and leek soup did taste good and the brownie was yummy! Just be aware the prices are a bit high for snack sized portions. Staff was very nice.
My quiche was good my significant others sandwich seemed to be tasty he ate it all very pricey but expectedFood: 3/5
Self-service cafeteria line. Food was very good! Inside was a little small, and crowded for a weekday.Food: 5/5
A bit of a disappointment after making the trip based off of their advertising. The food matches the posted menu exactly, but it is all in take-away containers. I expected freshly prepared meals, not a take away bar. Expensive prices for a cup of soup and sandwich. Drinks were $6 each. With all of this said, the food was good. I simply wouldn't make the hour drive again for it.
