It use to be a great place to get wine and cheeses. You were able to try the products but not anymore. I would love to try first it before I buy.
Always love getting the cheese plate with prosciutto, crackers, and a cold bottle of wine to watch the world go by! Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food you get! Love this place!
Well another place off my list... Prices are way to HIGH!!!! one sandwich for @10.25 no way will we continue to pay these prices. we have been going there for years but like everywhere else it has changed. They will not even slice up a pound of ham any longer, which has most likely gone from $15.00 to $25.00 ?? The sandwiches were small anyway, but to charge $10.50 for one is crazy... done with this place as well
I've been eating at The Cheese Shop for decades and it has always been consistently delicious. The ingredients are fresh, made in house, and absolutely delicious. Always get house dressing on your sandwich and I also highly recommend adding the marinated tomatoes. The walnut brownie is a great addition when you get to the checkout. Enjoy a meal LOTS of seating to choose from, pop into the DOG street shops, then wander Colonial Williamsburg. It'll make for a lovely few hours!
Sadly one of our favorite cheeses is no longer available. But the cheese shop is still fine and dandy for a quick bite…as long as the line isn’t super long. The Fat Canary uses the basement after 3pm for seating. It used to be where you could find original beers etc. that’s all upstairs now. And harder to find things that you want. Less things for higher prices. Still a must stop in W-Burg.
I used to go to this restaurant every week. But that was almost 40 years ago when it was in another spot! Still the same great food. I guess I've gotten old because it is MUCH more expensive and seems smaller. But still the same great taste, still the same great house dressing, still the same crazy crowds. Come here for a Cheese Shop Sandwich if you want the true taste of Colonial Williamsburg!
Great spot! The food is delicious and it's got great atmosphere.
The BEST deli sandwich now that the Carnegie Deli NYC doesn’t exist. I have been ordering the “combo with cheddar, sprouts, and house sauce plus extra house sauce on the side” since 1992. My family makes a point to stop and eat there every time we come near Williamsburg. They serve interesting, not so mainstream sodas, and a good selection of beers. If you’re in a mood to shop for gourmet food, their selection is very eclectic. Long love The Cheese Shop!
Always a big fan of the cheese shop. There’s something nostalgic for me about grabbing a sandwich and taking a walk around DOG street. A+, no notes.
Our recent visit to Williamsburg included lunch at The Cheese Shop upon recommendation. The prices seemed reasonable at first glance, but with no sides included, the scant amount of meat /cheese with no included accompaniments like lettuce, tomatoes and onions, not so much. I regret not taking a picture, but the chicken salad sandwich consisted of no more than a heaping tbsp of chicken plopped in the center of the bread. If it had been spread it would not have covered the bread surface. Very disappointing. On a positive note, the personnel were friendly and upbeat!
