The Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts) is Chicago’s first public arts high school dedicated to providing Chicago students with pre-professional arts training in Creative Writing, Dance, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts, combined with a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum.
ChiArts is a tuition-free, citywide school that aims to reflect the racial, socio-economic, geographic, and artistic diversity of the city of Chicago.
While ChiArts receives funding from Chicago Public Schools on a per pupil basis, which covers the academic portion of the budget, the arts conservatories are privately funded by individual, corporate and foundation support.
The mission of The Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts ®) is to develop the next generation of artistically promising, diverse scholar-artists through intensive pre-professional training in the arts, combined with a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum.
