1897 The Contemporary was founded by 32 forward-thinking women in Trenton, NJ
1900 Became a member of New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs
1912 Purchased 176 West State Street property from the estate of Caroline G. Hill
1922 Added solarium & auditorium to clubhouse
1925 Established Carolyn Stokes Day Nursery - operated completely by club until 1952
1946 Established scholarship fund for Trenton High School women graduates
1956 Formed Junior Contemporary for women under the age of 35
1958 Formed Evening Membership Department for working women
1970 Opened clubhouse to public as the Victorian Townhouse Museum
1971 Declared a New Jersey Historic Site
1987 Sponsored first Four Views of Trenton
1990 Initiated Links for Life – breast cancer awareness & fundraising program
1997 Celebrated Centennial Anniversary
2004 Opened Breast Cancer Awareness Center at Trenton YWCA
2006 Joined Million Voices Campaign – for domestic violence awareness
2007 Entered partnership with Elderhostel to bring visitors to Trenton
Won Victorian Society in America award for Historic Preservation
2008 Received Mercer Co. Cultural Trust Grant
