Welcome to “The Cottage” located at 415 N. Mulberry Street, Mt Carmel, IL 62863. This charming rental home is nestled on a shady lot in the heart of the historical district. Brick streets, a “Little Free Library” box for your reading enjoyment and historical homes are just a couple of the attractions in the neighborhood.
A block from Market Street, you are close to the many conveniences of a small town “main street.” Come enjoy the unique shops, antique stores, festivals and parades, as well as, the Ribberfest’s annual BBQ cook-off, which includes the annual downhill derby car races. Many other civic and social activities abound such as the Rotary Corn Day events and competitive 5K runs. In addition, you are minutes away from an eighteen-hole golf course, a municipal outdoor and indoor public pool, City Parks, baseball fields, tennis courts, the Wabash River and the Wabash Valley College. And don’t forget the infamous “Snake Pit,” home of the Golden Aces high school football team, set upon the hillside along the Wabash River.
For the outdoor enthusiasts, fishing and boating are a common past time for many locals and visitors. In addition, there are competitive field trial championship events. One of the most popular attractions to the area is Beall Woods State Park, one of the last tracts of virgin timber stands east of the Mississippi River.
The Cottage offers a peaceful getaway for 4 to 6 people who enjoy the conveniences of a beautifully restored home. This four-bedroom home is tastefully decorated with one and half bathrooms and an attached garage. The “yellow” kitchen with modern appliances brings warmth and sunshine to your home cooked meals. The living and dining room have “knotty pine walls” bringing warmth and charm to the cozy dwelling. Sit back and relax on the enclosed back porch or swing on the porch swing in the front of the Cottage, as you overlook the lovely landscape and flower beds and just say “hello” to those walking by.
The Cottage is an excellent location for small company meetings, parties with accommodations for overnight business clients, as well as, visitors to Mt Carmel.
For your convenience, we offer a washer and dryer, ceiling fans, high speed internet service, cable TV and free Wi-Fi. The back deck offers a quiet, relaxing setting with a grill to enjoy out-door cooking.
The proprietors live in the historical homes next door and have lived in the neighborhood for over 25 years. They are close by if you need directions or help with anything. You can feel safe and secure knowing the Mt. Carmel Police Department is a ½ block away.
