Understanding and providing solutions for some of the greatest challenges our earth faces today
We're not your average academic institution with researchers and students buried under mounds of books and papers. From expeditions through the Southern Ocean to measuring core samples in the Arctic, something new is being discovered each day. Here we’ll capture those stories and more of how the Earth works and how we can sustainably make our lives here better.
The Earth Institute is set on finding solutions to the many complex issues facing our planet, with a focus on sustainable development.
We believe the necessary science and technology already exist, and that we can improve conditions for the world’s poor while also preserving the Earth’s natural environment.
Directed by Alex Halliday, the Earth Institute supports pioneering projects in the biological, engineering, social, health, and interdisciplinary sciences to meet these important goals.
