Came for the lgbt climbing night and met a ton of nice climbers. Impressed by the gym on the second level and had a great time bouldering. Staff was nice too!
Our first time there and we had a blast. Great fun for the 2 hours there. All the staff were great, patient with us as we learned what to do and always willing to answer all questions. Not
Climbing variety was nice, and atmosphere and employees were great, but I was a little concerned about belay safety. We felt a friend of mine was rushed through the belay certification and did not feel adequately trained to be trusted with belaying after the course.
A busy Saturday but there were plenty of open routes to climb. An outstanding array of climbs from novice to expert in top rope with an enormous dedicated sport climbing section. Dare I say the largest bouldering section in the capital region?
Took 2 of my grandsons on Tuesday during winter break from school. The staff & facility was Amazing sooo, took 2 more grandkids rock climbing on Wednesday! My granddaughter climbed to the top multiple times I have been So Impressed by the staff & the whole atmosphere that I ended up getting a gift card for my stepson & his wife! While at an appointment between my visits to The Edge, I told a friend about them & she took her kids who Also had a Great Time! I'd Highly Recommend The Edge to Anyone looking for a nice clean place to bring your kids, teens, young adults or even physically active adults I had a Great Time, each time, just watching my grandkiddos!
The equipment is cleaned very often so the chalk won't build up and the walls are changed often offering new challengers all the time! The staff is knowledgeable and very willing to help. You'll need to fill out some safely wavers if it's your first time here. They have all the equipment ready to rent but it costs around $4 for each piece of gear. They have a good variety of skilled walls so beginners and veterans have something to do. The gym was busy when I was there Wed. 6:30pm so it's you come at peak times you might have to wait for a wall. The atmosphere is great! Everyone is supportive and really friendly!!! The only negative I can think is the price. It's very expensive... Going once, with no gear, will cost you around $20. Plus the price is going up in 2019. They do have memberships but they also cost a fortune. Around $500 I think for a year but that'll give you unlimited access. They also offer monthly passes but again they're not cheap. Worth checking out but unless you're going to go three times a week, every week, don't get the membership. If it's your first time going be prepared for your arms to hurt. Go slow, take your time, and have fun!
The gym itself is nice and staff was accommodating in ways. However our instructor seemed to be inconvenienced that I was having trouble with the belaying. I felt rushed due to him stating while I was struggling that he had another group he had to go help”….I think it would be more beneficial if the instructors were patient and explained how to belay more slowly. Seems like there wasn’t enough staff to smoothly run the gym.
Great staff and crew. Fun climbs with lots of terrain.
This place has such high climbing walls! There are so many climbs, 5 are suto belay. There is bouldering too. And a friction wall. Can only do group reservations, not parties. This is only Saturdays too.
Nice rock gym. 56 different climbs, and a separate bouldering area. Only complaint is the self belaying area is usually used by children, and the climbs there were too difficult for most children to complete. Otherwise, place was clean and staff was very friendly. Entrance is on the side of the building.
