The Farmhouse knows how to make some brunch! Wanted to try somewhere we hadn't been before and this was nearby. Parking can be a challenge if you're there on a busy weekend, so be prepared for that. The place was lively and packed, so you know it's a great place to stop for some food. The overall atmosphere is great but having a seat by the front door was not, especially on a cold day. Every time the door opens you get hit with a blast of cold air. Some sort of divider between the door and seating would go a long ways! On to the best part... The food! I went with their strip steak special. It came with a perfectly cooked steak, smothered in a hollandaise sauce, side of crispy potatoes and some eggs. The lady went with their chicken fried steak, which came with some grits and eggs. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a bite sometime!
The best breakfast I've had in KC. The sausage patties were superb, cooked and seasoned perfectly. The corned beef hash was delicious! Creamy with fresh chunks of veggies. My husband had the Lord Kyler and enjoyed it very much! The french press coffee is a nice touch as well. The service was excellent, our waitress was very attentive. I would definitely recommend making a reservation for the weekend brunch, without it the wait was over 30 mins for a table.
Highly recommend making a reservation. Sometimes you can find open seating at the bar area. I highly recommend trying some of the boozy coffee drink options. The steak and eggs were delicious.
Went with Kids for some brunch and all I can say is we loved it. It took.about 15 minutes to grab a table but well worth the wait. The food came very quickly and the staff was nothing but pleasant. Very upbeat energetic environment. Kids loved the buiscuits and gravy and eggs benedict. I had the veggis eggs benidict and we all enjoyed the meal. The kids especially loved the lemonade everything was very fresh. Vegetarian options: Has vegitarian options Parking: Can be a bit of a hastle
Enjoyed this “farm to table” like experience. It is a quaint corner in the River Market area. The French press coffee was just lovely. I had the chicken and biscuit with gravy. The flavor was spectacular. I also tried to special lime and mint mimosa and mmm it was tasty. They had lots of local art of the wall for sale. Would def recommend for an adult/couple breakfast.
I had the brisket omelet. It was superbly prepared. The potatoes were crisp and plentiful. The lemonade had a pleasant kick to it. Victoria's service was great! The atmosphere was vibrant and minimalist.
Growing up in the north land; going to the river market every Saturday morning was always a weekend staple. The Farmhouse is and always has been my favorite breakfast place in the city. Between locally sourced ingredients to a good atmosphere, kind staff, you can’t find a better place to grab breakfast.
Grabbed brunch here the other day and it was perfect. Covered outside patio no fans tho that is very Dog friendly! Food was tasty esp the Poblano grits and biscuits and gravy and the iced coffee was excellent.
I love this place. I’ve been here once for brunch and now once for dinner. I got the beet risotto and my girlfriend got the meatloaf. Everything was so good. The risotto had goat cheese and pistachios which gave it tangy and nutty flavors along with the sweet and earthy beets and creamy risotto. The meatloaf was super tender. The toast with the meatloaf was almost like a pastry it was so flaky. It also came with asparagus and potatoes which were both good. We will definitely be back!
The Farmhouse has been on my list for a long, long time! I have tried a number of times to get a reservation and have been unsuccessful because this is quite a popular place! We had a 10:00 AM reservation made through OpenTable for the day after Thanksgiving. What a perfect time to visit this place with family from out of town! I am a bit of an Eggs Benedict Lover, in fact, for brunch, I really love trying Eggs Benedict as often as I can. TF’s Eggs Benedict was a generous combo of ham, perfectly poached eggs see photo! and the tasty challah bread on which it was placed. Every bite was a mix of creamy yolk with thinly sliced perfectly-savory ham beautiful! atop this bread that just soaked up the taste of the rock stars of the dish. YUM! You MUST try it! My niece ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy with potato hash, and she promptly reported that it was perfect. We both had the Fried Potato Hash tiny cubed potatoes with a light crunch on the outside and soft and warm on the inside… you know, the kind you would want for breakfast EVERY day! She loved it and so did I! My twin and nephew both had Barham Steak and Eggs, one atop the potato hash and the other atop poblano grits, both of which were highly rated. We can’t talk about the food only. Let’s talk about the ambience at the Farmhouse. It’s busy, but you really won’t notice it at all when you’re sitting there talking and enjoying the food. There are beautiful colors and artwork adorning the walls, a chalkboard drawn with kudos to all the talented farmers who provide locally sourced-ingredients that are served in their dishes, and a beautiful hum of activity that feels really sweet. Everyone is moving along doing what they can to serve the customers in the best way possible with smiles on their faces and positive energy. I’m very happy that I finally got to visit The Farmhouse! Next, dinner reservations! If your pondering whether to make a reservation to visit this place, I say, “FIVE STARS! Do it now!” … and enjoy every bite!
