Staff member Laqueisha who works in the house keeping department was super helpful in helping me get a friend in a wheelchair and her service dog to the restroom. Even though she was on her break, she stopped to help through the entire process which took approximately 15 minutes. I wish I could coin a word or a phrase that would show my deep appreciation for her.
Terrible experience, doctor in the emergency room was rude and had no bed side manner whatsoever. My sister was brought in by ambulance with excruciating back pain. All he did was give her a shot for pain and a steroid shot. Did not do any kind of diagnostic testing to see what was causing the pain. Sent her home with pain meds and told her to see an orthopedic doctor. Her orthopedic doctor can’t see her for 2 weeks. What kind of hospital doesn’t do a cat scan or an ultrasound etc., to see what is going on??? Pitiful! I hope that doctor can sleep tonight….my sister sure won’t.
I had my son here last year and while the staff did their best in trying to figure out where everything was in the room to assist in my delivery out of town nurses new to the hospital. The on call OB/GYN was wonderful I had luckily seen her a couple times with scares throughout my pregnancy , I asked about calling my OB/GYN as it was 11:00 at night and a week prior to my scheduled induction. I was told that unless the baby held out until business hours the following morning that the on call OB/GYN delivers the baby. Well, my baby was born 2 hours later and my OB/GYN was never called. My OB/GYN was very upset that he was not called and said this is not the first time this has happened to him. I was very disappointed that my OB/GYN was not there to deliver and especially with my blood clotting disorder that he had been closely monitoring with the MFS. Due to this I was surprised and told before delivery I wasn't able to receive an epidural or any pain meds. So, if you are delivering here and it is after hours be sure you call your OB/GYN yourself to make them aware you are delivering because you will be told the on call OB/GYN will deliver otherwise. Also, i had a 5 day stay and for multiple days our room had no a/c as it was broken. We were sweating at night and it was very uncomfortable. The showers and bathroom were beyond sketchy and not clean. I had to use this hospital due to it being where my OB/GYN delivers. I highly recommend using an alternative hospital if it is an option to you.
No sense of urgency whatsoever from the ER doctors during an actual emergency. Go to Ochsner instead if you are having a heart attack. East Jefferson ER let my family member sit for 18 hours while having a heart attack, and wouldn’t do an angioplasty until they coded / needed heart shocked & CPR to be revived. Their lack of urgency made the situation and recovery process much worse. At least the doctors did apologize. Seriously, go to Ochsner ER before East Jefferson. At least Ochsner listens to the patient’s concerns and considers their past health history when making decisions.
Trust me when I tell you this. Some of the nurses there don’t care at all about their patients. Long story short: My mom called for the nurse in the middle of the night needing assistance to the bathroom- the nurse kept ignoring her call from the room and then told her over the nurse call button ~* Use the bathroom on yourself * ~ Then didn’t come in there over an hour later to clean her up. As God is my Witness! THIS WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF- I WILL GET SOME NURSES FIRED FROM THIS!!!! This place went to $hiT. Stay tuned!!
The Staff and Doctors are outstanding. They caring and attentive to your needs. Entered with a emergency Thanksgiving eve and was taken care of swiftly and with genuine concern. Thanks EJGH
July 9, 2022, I went to East Jefferson Hospital because it was the closest hospital to me. I had a hard time finding the emergency room. And parking had to be paid for. I eventually found the emergency room. When I was place into a room the doctor came in looking disgusted and asked what was the problem. My right hear felt infected and at the time the pain management score was a 2. He then looked in my ear for a minute and said, “there’s clogged up ear wax. I asked if the hospital will take care of it, and he told me, “No, you should go get the ear wax kit.” Which, did not work. The whole time the doctor was looking at me like he was disgusted with me. The pain in my ear began to worsen throughout the day, so I decided to go to Ochsner July 10, 2022. The doctor looked into my ear and she told me that my ear is infected. My service was terrible along with my diagnosis from East Jefferson Hospitalo bc a. PLEASE what ever you do, DO NOT go to East Jefferson Hospital! There is nothing they can do for you.
We have known this hospital over a five-year span as patients. We had diagnostics done, routine annual care, as well as inpatient care, and we received exceptional care in all departments. The doctors and nurses were all unhurried, caring, and professional, especially in the women's clinic and birthing center. Dr. Traci Iwamoto and the breastfeeding team deserve a special mention. They were available at all times and even returned calls after hours, on multiple occasions. The rooms were clean and quiet. All mothers with newborns are in single rooms. Thank you, EJGH! PS: parking is free and convenient attached garage
Well, it was never the best hospital...but damn, it's definitely not good anymore at all...going into the ER the woman was rude and unfriendly when I simply asked to visit my relative in the ER. I understand it's a tough job but it's uncalled for to have an attitude to people who are already concerned about loved ones...The time it takes to get into the ICU is really horrible especially since the pandemic has a low rate currently in the hospital 4/13/22, so far my loved one is pushing close to 14 hours in the ER...I'm not trying to be ungrateful or not appreciative for service but our Healthcare system needs serious help. I see how stressed these Healthcare workers are and that definitely doesn't help anyone.
I was an outpatient patient at EJH on 7/7/22. I am a 76 year old general surgeon that has performed thousands of operations. Yesterday , believe it or not, was the first time in my life I under went general anaesthesia for a surgical procedure. Literally the tables were turned! I can’t begin to tell you how terrific the entire process was, and how professional and personal family warm the experience was. The entire surgical crew from nurses , to the CRNA, to the techs and to the MD’s taking care of me and my wife are! I wish I could remember all the names. My ENT doctor , Dr. Matthew Cooper was great . The East Jefferson Hospital, made me feel proud of my profession . As we all know these are difficult times and the last two years especially, but you wouldn’t know it from the care given to me. Sincerely Frank Campisi, MD
