For over 50 years, the non-profit Friends of the Salt Lake City Library have supported and enriched the library, literacy programs, and scholarship.
The Friends organization has only one full time and one part time employee in The Library Store. The remainder of the organization is run by volunteers.
The mission of The Friends of the Salt Lake City Public Library is to support and advocate for The City Library system and its mission through fundraising efforts, library promotion, and membership drives. Friends value public libraries as cultural, educational, and social centers, and contribute their time, efforts, and resources to promote literacy and to further develop the Salt Lake City Public Library system as a dynamic force in our community.
The Library Store is a non-profit retail arm of the Friends offering literary-based items in a gift store setting at the Main Library.
