Description

The Henegar is a Historic 1919 school building in the heart of Downtown Melbourne, Fl.The Henegar is a semi-professional theatre which presents new, avant garde and award winning plays and musicals. The Henegar strives to bring entertainment to Brevard that challenges, enlightens and entertains. In 2015, The Henegar was one of the first Theatres to produce "Cry Baby, the Musical" working directly with the Authors to create the version that is now able to be licensed around the world.

The Henegar is home to two Theatres, our Mainstage which seats 476 and our Black Box Theatre which seats 80-100.

Operate a community arts center that provides quality cultural and educational programs, opportunities for community use and continues to preserve and maintain its historic significance.

My daughter and I loved Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat. Amazing talent! Lovely small theater where any seat is great, folks are friendly, and you just have a great time for a reasonable price. Perfect for theater lovers!
Excellent performance of "The Color Purple!" The large cast was superb - in their acting and singing. This rendition was far superior, IMHO, to both the book and the movie. Never been so proud of local theatre than with this musical. Definitely two thumbs up.
Absolutely GO! It's so much fun and worth every freaking penny! The actors have the most amazing voices. Some of the plays are just beyond funny. If you can't do all the shows do a shorter season of 3 shows. They offer drinks and a few snacks. I would recommend you go to dinner first. The theatre is relatively small but you can see pretty well from anywhere in the theatre. The best seats are up front or on the balcony. Enjoy!
ANOTHER excellent show! Joseph and his technicolor Dreamcoat knocked it out of the park! Also, really liked the new theater seating. Can’t wait for A Christmas Carol and The Sound of Music!
Saturday, March 25, 2023, was our first time attending a performance at Henegar Center. We were very impressed. We had excellent seats & they were comfortable! We were close enough to make eye contact with the performers. The presentation of Godspell was FANTASTIC. Parking was quite easy & emails prior to attending were very helpful. We look forward to attending more performances in the future.
Enjoyed Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat in this local theater. Will be revisiting again. A bright future of culture has appeared.
Crazy talent is here at the Henegar!! The venue is beautiful always updating. Drinks are so much fun! It's almost midnight after my first show, and I need to be asleep, but you need to know that the variety for next year is going to be amazing! PS We started at Alligator Reef and were happy to see that they support the Henegar Center ForThe Arts.
Had a wonderful time at the Henegar! Avenue Q was well done feom set design to puppeteering and singing. A great little theatre with friendly staff, affordable tickets, bar is open before the show and for intermission with clever drinks -i recommend the Peanut butter & jelly made with peanut butter whiskey. They served plenty of non-alcoholic drink options, snacks-cookies, pretzels, nuts etc. Easy parking for a Fri p.m. show in the free municipal lot; easy to exit theatre and get back to car after. 2023-24 season should be starting soon and we look forward to seeing more shows. Check it out if you haven't.
It was my first time visiting this theatre. The theatre itself was beautiful and I was impressed with the quality of the show. However, what I was not impressed with was the lack of etiquette from members of the audience and lack of response from the ushers. One woman yelled the ENTIRE performance, especially in the middle of songs and during silent parts of the show. It was extremely distracting and took me out of the story and into reality which is the opposite of what theatre is supposed to do. Hearing “YESSSS!” “WE LOVE YOU!!!” “WOOOO!” when an actor is trying to sing is not only rude and distracting to the entire audience, but to the actors on stage. If there was security to handle disruptive audience members like the one at this performance, I might have had a better experience.
Just went to see Aida and wow what a show!!! This was our first time at the Henegar and will definitely not be the last! The show was talent packed, the lighting, stage design, choreography and music were spot on! I actually prefer the Henegar being smaller than the king center as the audio at the Henegar is better in my opinion compared to when I was last at the King Center. We are so blessed to have this place nearby and I am grateful for everyone involved making it happen See you guys soon!
