The Homestead Store is a family owned and run business that first opened in June of 1983 with the collaborative effort of three generations working together to make it happen.
Our store was quite small in the beginning. In fact, the majority of our sales came from selling candy, dried fruit, nuts, spices, and herbs at farmers markets, fairs, and craft shows. Even so, with persistence and hard work our store slowly began to grow.
In 1995 we bought the grain elevator and moved into the one story portion that used to be the office. By then the store was supporting itself. Gone were the days of farmers markets, fairs, and craft shows.
Over the years, the number of customers grew and so did we. Eventually it got to the point that our store was bursting at the seams. There was no longer enough space to display the product selection we wanted to offer. We had completely outgrown our cozy little nook.
In the fall of 2014 we moved into the first floor of the elevator itself which has been such a wonderful experience. We now have twice the space and are loving the room to expand and grow our business.
