The John Cooper School is an independent, non-sectarian, co-educational college preparatory day school for grades Pre-k through Grade 12.
The John Cooper School was founded in 1988 with the first graduating class in 1994. We currently have 1,475 alumni. The John Cooper School is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).
With a current PK-12 student enrollment of approximately 1,200 students, the teacher-student ratio is 11:1. Eighteen Advanced Placement courses are offered and 100 percent of graduates attend college. The student body contains 42 percent who are students of color.
Facilities on our 43-acre wooded campus include:
– Lower School and Fifth Grade Center with classrooms, science labs, music rooms, library, art room, multi-purpose room and computer lane;
– Middle/Upper School with classrooms, science labs, two libraries and two computer lane
– Performing Arts Center with a 500-main stage theater, a 125-seat black box theater and instructional space for band, choir, dance and drama;
– Two gymnasiums, a lighted and turfed football/soccer field, lighted and turfed baseball field, lighted softball field, tennis courts and track;
– Two visual arts studios
– Student Center/Dining Hall
– The 50,000-square-foot Rock Math and Science Center opened in August 2016. Facilities include classrooms and labs for Middle and Upper School science and math; a computer lab, robotics classroom, forum classroom, outdoor roof garden and 135-seat lecture hall.
