Went to lunch at The Mineshaft on a Monday afternoon. Hannah was a wonderful server and the food was excellent. The atmosphere was quiet as it was not crowded. We had the daily special which was an open-faced prime rib sandwich with a side of fries and the beef mushroom potato soup. All of that was only 9.99. The soup was large and very filling, so much so that most of my actual meal went in a left-over box. The open-faced prime rib sandwich was tender and delicious as well as the fries. We also had the bottomless sprecher's root beer floats and the deep-fried dill pickle chips as an appetizer. I'd recommend every bit of it. It was all delicious and we will definitely return! Parking: They have a parking lot around back with plenty of room for lots of vehicles. So don't worry about not finding street parking.
THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THE BAR NEEDS TO REALLY BE WORKED ON!!! I typically have good food from here. GREAT pizza and all other food is just good. I don't understand why my fries came out barely warm this time, but the fish was HOT.. I think anyone can go here and get good food. I think the bartenders are way too busy to focus on customer service. This being said, answering phones/taking orders and running to get food should be a whole other job in itself! There would be happier bartenders and happier customers!
Updating my 4-star only response due to owner reply: I've been away from the SE Wisconsin area for a long while but came back to visit family and stopped by to see what changed. Breakfast was delicious! Got the Cajun skillet and was not disappointed. My son got the silver dollar pancakes,which... were quite large! The atmosphere was just as I remember from 20+ years ago: boisterous and family friendly.
The restaurant was very busy, but service was good. Food was correct as ordered, the fried cod is excellent.Food: 4/5
The Mineshaft remains reliably great and still one of the best value restaurants in the whole region. The daily specials are outstanding and the food is quite good. The rustic decor is well-maintained, never becoming tired and run-down. The owners have clearly made a commitment to quality and value. Highly recommended. Parking: There is a free public lot behind the restaurant with access through the back door with an elevator for those who can't manage stairs.
The food was good, we had the Taco Salad and California burger. Their seasoned fries are dangerous.Food: 4/5
The food was very good, however it took a very long time to get our breakfast and they didn't seem all that busy. I think initially our order didn't get sent to the kitchen, as our server changed in the middle of things, change of shift, l believe. The server was apologetic, and the experience was good, otherwise.Food: 4/5
Service was awesome! Had deep fried fish and fries. Served hot and done appropriately. Game room is upstairs, so expect a bit of ceiling noise. You can park on main street, but there is large parking lot in back as well. We went on Wednesday night for fish because Friday nights are super busy. Kid-friendliness: Game room upstairs.
We've been here many times over the years. Most recently, I went on July 27th with my three teenage kids. Food and service was good as usual. The game room has been updated with some new games which the kids liked. My only complaint is the heat in the game room. I was literally dripping sweat. They need to improve the ventilation or something. A place to put your items while you play games would be nice too. A little locker area or something like you might see at the bowling alley or skate rink. Just my two cents. Kid-friendliness: Kids love the game room.
Haven't been here in quite a while, so we decided to try eating here again. We had pizza, which used to be so good but it is not the same. The crust was like cardboard and the sausage had a strange flavor. We also had an order of tater tots, and they were so hard and dried out that it was impossible to pierce them with a fork. Epic fail of a meal. Our waitress was pleasant and the atmosphere is nice but I just can't recommend the food.
