Welcome to the NJ HiRailers Fan Page. Stop back weekly for the lastest happenings. To see more action, check out www.njhirailers.com.
The NJ Hirailers is an exclusive O Gauge model railroad club that resides in Paterson New Jersey. We hold a number of shows throughout the year allowing visitors the opportunity to see the largest 3 rail O Gauge Railroad in the United States.
Our first show is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2015. Lionel Electric Trains will be a participant and supporter of our shows this coming season. We are committed to creating an environment for learning and participating in this exciting hobby and welcome family members of all ages to visit us.
The complete show schedule can be found on our website at www.njhirailers.com. The admission at these shows for adults is $7.00 and the fee for children of ages 5 to 12 is $2.00. Children under age 5 visit the layout for free.
There are two unique train layouts in the main club room. The first layout you will see as you enter the room is Tom Snyder's Standard Gauge collection. Tom was a television personality from many late noght and news programs and was also an avid Lionel train enthusiast. Unfortunately Tom passedaway suddenly in 2007. The layout was donated by Tom's companion in 2009 to the NJ Hirailers with the hope that it will remain just as Tom operated it. We are extremely happy to share this one of a kind piece of history with visitors. We can also run members and visitors standard gauge equipment on this layout. You can visit our website or read the plaque in the club room for more information on the Snyder layout.
The second layout in the club room is our main 3 rail O gauge layout. This layout measures 185 foot long by 35 feet wide. The layout is feature rich and has been featured in O scale magazines a few times. There are engines, buildings, passenger cars and freight cars from Atlas, MTH, Lionel, Sunset Limited, Weaver and other manufacturers.
The Trackside Café in the Main club room offers a selection of food and refreshments from Chef Vinnie and his team. They have a creative menu and the food is outstanding.
There are also three layouts across the hall from the main club room. There are two of the original train layouts from episodes of the critically acclaimed HBO series the Soprano’s. There are many posters displayed of the Soprano’s character “Bobby Bacala" enjoying his trains in a few of the episodes. There is also alayout that was recently donated to the club from the wife of a deceased train enthusiast.
Membership information is available on our website.
We look forward to having you visit and support the club.
Happy Railroading!
The Mission of the NJ Hi-Railers Train Club, as a Not-for-Profit organization, is to provide a place of fellowship, a place to meet others that have the same interests, and a place for wholesome fun for those interested in any of the aspects of 3 rail O gauge modeling. As a 3 rail O Gauge club, we welcome participation of anyone with an interest in learning more about the history of railroads and subways, train operations, wiring and the distribution of power on the layout, and the building of scenery on the layouts.
