Excellent library although could do with more regular input of new titles. Automated booking of new loans and returns works well.
Excellent range of reading. If they haven't got it, they'll order it in. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice place just to sit and read the paper, always someone to chat with.
Kids love doing the fun activities set and choosing their books afterwards
New Forest Tabletop Games was on tonight at the Library. Really good fun if you're a nerd like me!
This library has so much potential for quiet study. There is a children’s room downstairs as well as the counter and some tables; upstairs there is a main room and three other rooms. The upstairs rooms could therefore all be quiet rooms. However, sadly, this is not the case. The three upstairs rooms are locked and available for hire — if you find one open and sit in it to work, you get politely chucked out. Librarians make no effort to speak quietly when they come upstairs, and do not ask users to keep quiet. People who hire the rooms have no compunction about talking loudly in the main room: today some kind of child psychological assessment is going on and the assessor is having a loud conversation with the parent. The librarians have even set up an Easter egg hunt in the upstairs room! What is frustrating is that there is no need for this. There is plenty of space in this library. The upstairs room could be a quiet room. The locked rooms could be open to the public when they are not hired out to businesses. Users of the upstairs rooms could be asked to keep to them and have their conversations inside them. Nothing would be lost, and a rare quiet library would be created for the local community. In a couple of days I have seen several people come in to do quiet study, so there is obviously demand for a quiet space. Why not provide one? It is bizarre that nobody has thought about this. The notion of studying seems to be completely alien to whoever runs this library.
Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. I have gone in several times to find references for my qualification, and not only are they happy to guide me to the best resources, they can help me with their own personal experiences they do. Also amazing with my child, they go out their way to help us find the right info on whatever the current hyper interest is. As a result we have both learnt a lot, in a much friendlier and more personal way than just being online.
The staff are so helpful.and welcoming. I have attended courses here as well as borrowing books.
The library is great, it has a children's section and computer station, free WIFI, and the staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable and very helpful.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. New book releases available. I love the library....It's like going shopping for free! I do know that our taxes pay for it.
Small, friendly library with great staff. Sometimes a bit limited in choice as they seldom stock an author's full works but otherwise a good asset for the town.
