The Old Spaghetti Factory

Description

The Old Spaghetti Factory is a family owned and operated restaurant founded in Portland, Oregon in 1969 by Guss and Sally Dussin. Dedicated to satisfying dining in warm surroundings, the San Marcos Old Spaghetti Factory, established in 1996, is located across from San Marcos City Hall. Legend has it that this area was discovered in the 1700’s by Spanish troops chasing horse thieves. The troops named the fertile valleys "Los Vallecitos de San Marcos" and in 1797 it was shortened to "San Marcos." We hope you will enjoy your visit with us and find many pleasant memories of the color and charm of San Marcos.

The first time here, the place was a bit empty when we went, so service was very fast. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. The food was great, and the portions were pretty good.Food: 5/5
This was our first time going to Spaghetti Factory in a long time because the ones in Northern California closed down. This location was the closest location in Escondido to where we were staying. Everyone loved their food. My husband got the spaghetti and meatballs. I got the garlic shrimp fettuccine. My kids got the shrimp fettuccine alfredo and chicken fettuccine fettuccine alfredo.
Yes, we drove all the way down to this area from Vegas for a concert — and stayed an additional day just to eat dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory! This is one of the very few of my favorite things that we are missing in Las Vegas! OSF is not the best pasta on earth. It’s not the fanciest restaurant, or always the best service. But it offers a great experience overall — with legitimately delicious spaghetti, good bread, a simple but sweet salad, and a scoop of yummy spumoni ice cream all included in one fair price for your meal. When we lived in the Bay Area, we always made it a point to get to OSF at least 3-4 times a year but since being in Vegas, this is one restaurant I always try to fit in when entering California on a road trip. All locations are usually grand in size, and ambiance is nice - family-oriented, spacious, and suited to both casual and a little fancier if you’d like. And for us, since road trips will always involve taking our dogs, most ? OSF having patios which allow dogs is critical, especially since our puppy seems to like barking his head off when left at the hotel. ‍ Order the captain’s platter — mizithra and brown butter for one half and the awesome white clam sauce on the other half. Mix it up and voila! Tip to OSF: Invest in better butter for your bread. Note: We sat on the patio and I never actually stepped foot inside this location, but the few locations I’ve been to have always been consistent in decor and ambiance. Note 2: We called at noon to confirm they allow dogs on the patio, verified by the lunch manager. When we arrived for dinner, the dinner manager tried to tell us only service dogs were allowed. They relented and seated us but keep this in mind. Kid-friendliness: Plenty for children including a kid menu, and kids’ favorites like lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs.
Had a great dinner! I had the minestrone soup, added meatball for 2.49 and Pasta Classic White Clam Sauce with extra lemons on the side. It was really good, would say the best thing I've had of 2 or 3 previous visits. If you like seafood, it rocked, big chunks of clam. My wife had the Founders Favorite, Jumbo Lobster & Crab Ravioli. She said . We asked to sit in the trolley, and they gave us the end booth in the trolley
The ambiance and decor is spectacular! The food is average and nothing special but the service was good and the ambiance makes you want to enjoy the place longer.Food: 4/5
Such a large location, lots of space and fun decor. The garlic cheese bread appetizer was so good, I highly recommend. Next best thing was the lasagna. Decor of the entry way was super fun.Food: 4/5
Their food used to be a great value. Now it seems they're a little overpriced. Parking: I live much closer to the San Diego store but I refuse to go there because there is no parking.
Mia was super nice. This place is So much better than the downtown one! I recommend taking the drive for a better experience.Food: 4/5
It was fun to see the red trolley in the middle! I was with a group of Seniors and we were all looking forward to having a delicious dinner, it was nice that we were offered a menu just for us. The portions are the right size, the prices are reduced a bit. The choices are not as many but still fair. When our food came it was delicious and just enough. The server was friendly and patient with some in our group who had questions. Over all, I would definitely recommend this place, it did not let us down.
Furniture doesn't need to be old just needs to look old......booth seat was almost as high as the table.....Food: 5/5
