Great food and great service!!!! The boiled crawfish was perfectly seasoned and hot when then came out!!! The waitress was super nice and with them been busy she was constantly checking on us to see if we needed anything which is rare in most restaurants.
Let's start with Google sucks when listing this place. I googled what I was looking for in the area. This place Doesn't have what I asked Google for. The atmosphere is mom and pop home town quaint. I decided to try it even though I was mis lead by Google. It's a hit or miss when trying new places. This was a miss. The food was less than bland. For being a Louisiana restaurant they need to use seasonings. Sorry I want to be honest. It was not a total bust because the people I went with had the catfish and they thought it was good. I value their input on things. I tasted from their plates and still stick to the use of seasoning comment. I was not impressed with the experience. I say try it for yourself. You may like it better than I did.
We googled “great gumbo” in Hammond, and this restaurant popped up first. We viewed overall reviews and decided to try it. The reviews are VERY MISLEADING. The waitress was nice and competent, and stated they had just reopened recently. Restaurant was very clean. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. The fried crab claws looked and tasted old. The fried pickles were soggy and previously frozen. The shrimp/corn bisque looked and tasted as if it was out of a can. The seafood gumbo was watery with very little shrimp/flavor. The cheesy seafood pasta was not blended together, had no flavor, and had chunks of non-melted cheese in it- looked like pasta with cheese whiz poured on & then some thawed crawfish tails dropped on top. The bread that came with the pasta was the only thing that was good, and by far the best thing on the menu. The burger was just ok. The fountain Coke tasted odd also, but possibly due to wrong syrup/seltzer mixture . Family of 5 adults, and we did not finish any of the dishes. No boiled shrimp available either. We will not be back.
Food tasted so bad that I sent it back. Told them why in a very polite manner. When the bill came we noticed that we were still charged for an unacceptable dish. Service was very slow and inefficient. In our server’s defense I just don’t think that he was trained properly. Will probably never go back.Food: 1/5
Been here tons of times and always enjoyed it. Seafood potato with the crazy potatoes is the best meal in Hammond. Everything else I've tried has been great as well. This is my go to place. Staff is always friendly and service is always fast. Keep it up, y'all.
This was a mixed bag. We had a group. My fish sandwich was fine though they come with ketchup if you don't order otherwise. Wife's shrimp sandwich was fine though someone else didn't care for theirs. One ordered a salad with chicken. The chicken was skimpy. We had to ask twice for her salad dressing. Prices were unusual. Sandwich prices were reasonable but side dishes were unacceptable. $5 for a side of fries, and not enough to be reasonably shared, just normal. Other sides were similar if not worse. Price of sides made the whole meal overpriced. You do get 1 and only one drink refill. This was not an issue for us this visit but could be for other people. For me, 3 stars means I would be happy to go again. That's why I gave it only 2 stars.
Ordered the cheese sticks and cup of "seafood gumbo" as appetizers. I was really dissapointed when the gumbo was delivered with shrimp and okra instead or seafood. The gumbo had a good flavor but it wasn't what I expected. I had the boiled crawfish and shrimp for my main meal. They were boiled and seasoned perfectly. I really enjoyed my meal. My dinner company ordered the fried shrimp and catfish boats. It was all cooked perfectly golden brown with just the right amount of seasoning. The employees were very friendly. It's a friendly atmosphere. I would definitely suggest this as a great place to eat.
I ordered the barbecue shrimp. I have never had this dish before. All they did was dump bottle barbecue sauce and with some butter. My husband ordered the shrimp oysters and fish fried. It was not what he thought it would be. This will be the last time we ever visited this establishment.
The food was amazing. My husband and I took our girls there. It was my oldest birthday. We ordered the shrimp basket, trio basket, pistolette trio, and crab cakes I added pasta to my dish.
I enjoyed my oysters, the chicken tender basket came with two pieces of chicken and was not worth the price. Fries were soggy, with the grease draining from the chicken placed on top. Usually pretty satisfied with my orders, not today though.
