We came to visit as we head heard it was the oldest operating Cafe in Los Angeles County. When we arrived we noticed the Ambiance was very relaxed and old fashioned... a traditional Cafe, which we liked. The menu had a great selection and the food was of good quality and delicious. The staff was attentive friendly and polite. A great experience highly recommended. Parking: Roomy parking but don't miss the entrance!
Great food and Ambiance takes you back in time to the 50s and 60s and 70s. Enjoy the food and service. We have classic cars and enjoy the atmosphere! One of the oldest restaurants in Los Angeles County. Enjoy!
Worst food of my life. No flavour most basic form possible. It’s like they are stuck in the depression where a salad is literally just lettuce and and the club is made with toddler size portions. Don’t waste your time or money.
This cafeteria was here before I was born and will surely be here long after I 'm gone. Our group had a variety of dietary concerns, and the restaurant had something delicious for everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal with friends. Vegetarian options: No need to ask for a special veggie plate. They have a ton of delicious options on their menu. Kid-friendliness: They're obviously pros when family groups arrive.
I had heard about this place. Definitely lives up to the hype. I had the eggs Benedict with spinach. Hollandaise tastes like homemade. BF had the pancakes, delicious and fluffy. Trying to figure out how to get him to take me here again.
If you miss good ol’ down home American cooking the way I do, this is the place for you. I’m not planning on having anything other than the eggs Benedict the next few times I go there. They’re that good! Update. I feel sorry for the guy who left a bad review because he ordered a salad and got a plain old salad from the 60’s. Yeah this is not the place to order a salad. This place is authentic retro. Go to Veggie Grill or Sizzlers. I made the mistake of bringing my vegan wife. Lol. They were out of veggie burgers. And yes, they do take long to serve, but it’s worth the wait.
Nice breakfast. Good service. As expected never disappointed hereFood: 5/5
This place is AWESOME! It has been here for years. We walked in, sat at the bar and ordered. The vibe is great, the servers are friendly, the coffee is fresh. Just an unforgettable dining experience. Cheers!
this place has been on my list for a long time, and also it's on my list of oldest restaurants in LA to go to so I was happy to find out that I was near there ... it was nighttime when I arrived and there we're more staff than customers. I asked what the special was, what the really good food was to eat there. The waitress said that they're really known best for their breakfast and that the place was packed all morning long. Nonetheless she gave me a number of things that were...like all those foods that Swanson frozen dinners were trying to emulate, when they were trying to provide a simulacra of great homemade cooking, Salisbury steak London broil open-faced turkey sandwich...I was originally planning to get a burger and they had burgers but it wasn't really a burger place. I decided to go with the enthusiastic recommendation of another waitress that I try the open face sandwich and it was magnificent. it reminded me of all those restaurants like the Tallyrand who try to sell home cooking but don't really quite pull it off, this place feels like my grandmother or some super competition version of my grandmother was in the kitchen cooking these brilliant dishes, things I normally wouldn't ask for but we're delighted to eat because they were delicious. I also had the ham and navy bean soup which was terrific. the service was outstanding, the congeniality of the patrons was great, and it really felt like a place that was welcoming and homelike, which so many places try to pull off and fail. It's a place remarkable for achieving the goal of actually having home cooking in a restaurant. I can recommend this place enthusiastically, and can't wait to come back for breakfast
We were out of town visiting relatives and wanted to try this place. My husband heard about the food and history on TV. The food was great but the service, by everyone, was A++. We will definitely return.
