I can only review this hospital as a visitor, but I found that it is very clean, there is plenty of free parking, it’s not over crowded, and all the staff members are incredibly friendly and helpful. They offered free masks and ice cold water in the lobby.
it was the most pleasant visit to the hospital. The emergency workers were very polite and careful with me. thanks for your great work, guys!
My husband was in a major car accident on Thursday morning, it's now Saturday afternoon and they just gave him his MRI. He came in as a trauma patient yet he's being treated as if he just has a cold. His MRI was done around 11 a.m. today and here we are at 3:30 and not one doctor has come in to talk to us. I've never had such bad hospital service. The nurse communicated to us, per the doctor that they see something in the MRI and that they paged a neurologist to come and talk to us, yet no doctor still.
As opposed to other reviewers’ experience, our experience at the ER was very positive. My husband broke his neck riding a bike and was seen and attended to at the ER promptly and competently. However, once he was transferred to the Trauma Department with a broken neck and concussion, everything went downhill. We were assigned burnt-out, inexperienced and downright negligent nurses who on several occasions through his 2-day stay there endangered his life. My husband is type-1 diabetic and needs constant monitoring to ensure his sugar levels don’t go dangerously low which can kill him especially after trauma which affects the way blood sugar behaves. He was also concussed and not completely coherent, with blurry memory. He had a neck brace on and was told he cannot move at all from flat back position for fear of paralysis. If I hadn’t fought to remain with him through the night which they made an exception for, as it goes against their policy he would have likely gone into hypoglycemic shock which is life threatening as his blood sugar reached 32 when I took a brief nap at 3 am. On another occasion he almost threw up which could have killed him as he could choke on his vomit in flat back, and the staff didn’t have a plan for what to do if he vomits, despite him having indicated that he was nauseous hours beforehand., and despite the fact that the drugs he was given were likely to cause nausea/ vomiting. On another occasion, he indicated he felt like he had low blood sugar he didn’t have access to his equipment to check for himself and needed to check his sugar level. 20 minutes later I came back from a bathroom break to inquire why they haven’t yet checked it and the nurse said “it wasn’t his time to check and they only check sugar level on specific schedule “! After I expressed my concern with this behavior she had an outburst and did not return to offer care. We were left hanging and without nurse attention until I demanded a replacement. Another kind nurse thankfully helped us until we had a new nurse, a time during which we had a couple scary incidents of near-vomiting. Overall the care was freighteningly incompetent and negligent and he might not have survived it unless I was by his side advocating for his care at every step. After my brief “nap” on the first night which nearly resulted in his death I didn’t dare sleep or leave him to their care until we were thankfully released.
A year ago, I took my sister in for gallbladder pain. The doctor was so dismissive and said unless she had an infection they couldn’t do much. I ended up taking her to a children’s hospital in Utah where I live. They had to preform two procedures instead of just a cholecystectomy. The second procedure could’ve been avoided if they would’ve just helped her at Henry Mayo. Also, my cousin went in for stomach pain and they sent her home with antibiotics. She died. Henry Mayo’s negligence is killing people. DO BETTER!!!
Please don’t go to this hospital. This incident occurred on 5/6/23. My husband had a fever of 104 and was hallucinating. We called the ambulance, the ambulance took my husband to the ER and thn they bring him out to the waiting room and tell us 7-8 hours wait. I ended up driving my husband to KP panorama city and was seen within an 1 1/2. Turned out he had a 6cm liver abscess and was septic. If we had waited at Henry mayo I couldn’t had potentially lost my husband. No way they could have gotten an interventional radiologist that same night.
I went there because it was the person hospital. I did not know the area very well because that moved across state. My experience there was a nightmare. They were some nice nurses, but most of them were awful and the blonde woman supposedly marketing manager is a witch, so if your minority do not go to this hospital.
Hello Henry Mayo NewHall Hospital, and thank you very much for taking care of my uncle while he was and helping my uncle for everything, and you guy’s an awesome and amazing staffs and employees as well! And this hospital is fantastic because this hospital is so carring and polite staff and employee and also a loving people too ? Because he was sick and he got surgery on his head because he was feeling so dizzy and weak too and he couldn’t even walk or talk so we took him to that Hopsital in Henry mayo NewHall hospital ???
Do not!!!I repeat do not go to this ER!!!! And if you are your family end up there get them out get them transferred. The staff cannot even recognize signs and symptoms of a stroke. And they're very discriminatory towards elderly people. The ER manager is very dismissive and covers up for his staff and doctors mistakes. ER Is the first point-of-care their lack of following standards and protocols will leave your family members worse off than when they came.
I visited HM Newhall 3 times over 3 days with Kidney Stones issues. They had me in, very fast, every time. When needed, I had medicine given to me to help with pain management as soon as possible. They never pressured me to move out or make a fast decision. Their only concern was my well being. I felt cared for and the staff and doctors were all full of compassion. DR. Kido was amazing and the most patient DR. I have ever met. I also ended up staying overnight and the experience was very similar. Friendly staff, and over all very compassionate and kind attitude. Thank you HMN workers, though, I hope I never have to come back :
