William R. Payne practices in all areas of Criminal Defense including both Felony and Misdemeanor charges. He represents adult and juvenile clients as well as young clients that qualify for Youthful Offender Status. He practices in all state courts and in all local municipal courts in Calhoun and surrounding counties. Mr. Payne has represented a large number of clients charged with drug offenses. He is a current member of and has served on the Calhoun County Drug Court for many years. The Drug Court offers an alternative approach to drug related felony criminal cases to those who qualify for admission to the Drug Court program.
Mr. Payne represents persons that have applied for Probation and persons that are facing having their probation revoked by the court. He also represents clients housed in the Department of Corrections at their Parole Hearings both locally and in Montgomery.
Mr. Payne defends persons charged with DUI and other traffic offenses in both state and municipal courts.
Mr. Payne represents claimants who have applied for Social Security Benefits but have been wrongfully denied the benefits they deserve. Mr. Payne carefully gets to know his Social Security clients personally. Their cases are screened by Mr. Payne and not some assistant simply filling out some questionnaire. Taking this approach has enabled Mr. Payne to gain a better understanding of the many factors that prevent a client from being able to be gainfully employed which has led to a high rate of success in his Social Security Disabilty cases.
The Payne Law Firm can also serve your needs in preparing wills and administering estates of deceased persons. We advise clients in the administration of estates both when there is a will as well as when there is no will.
The Payne Law Firm offers services to assist family and friends of persons suffering with mental illness that are presently experiencing worsening symptoms and are having difficulty functioning. Our firm works closely with the Calhoun County Probate Court, the local mental health department, the Psychiatric Services Unit at Regional Medical Center and other mental health professionals in filing necessary legal paperwork for the involuntary commitment of these persons suffering with increased mental illness symptoms. This process leads to evaluations of the patient by mental health professionals and ultimately treatment of the mental illness in an effort to try and return the patient to stability.
We also represent clients who have been injured in auto accidents and trucking accidents. The Payne Law Firm also handles Divorce cases as well as a variety of general civil matters.
Our mission is to protect the rights of our clients, to defend the accused, and in the process to improve our clients' quality of life for the future.
