The Pines of Dow Gardens offers house tours and programs in order to bring the story of Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow to life.
In 1899 Herbert H. Dow, along with his wife Grace and their children, moved into their new Midland home on West Main. Having begun the Dow Chemical company a few years earlier, Herbert was ready to own a home of his own on land he had purchased. Today Herbert's House, The Pines, is a registered National Landmark.
The Pines is part of Dow Gardens and can be toured by visitors by purchasing a ticket at the time of admission. By doing this, you will be completely wrapped up in the world Herbert Dow sought to create from the gardens that were his backyard, to the floorplan of his home he helped to design. The Pines also offers a wide array of programs throughout the year to help bring to life the world of Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow and their children.
