Karen Benson Miniatures started as a home based business producing handcrafted dollhouse miniatures. My first products were 1:12 scale dressed mannequins, handpainted toys & Christmas ornaments. Eventually I made 12 different styles of dressed mannequins & an array of ladies accessories (hair pieces, hair combs, shoes, hat pins in holder &, wigs to name a few - all in 1:12 scale). I sold primarily at CIMTA (Cottage Industry Miniaturist Trade Association) wholesale shows directly to owners of retail dollhouse shops. I was bitten by the "small scales" bug and in 2000 I had the opportunity to purchase an Epilog laser engraver/cutter and have been producing laser cut kits in 1:12, 1:24, 1:48 & 1:144 scales ever since. My main focus is 1:48 scale (fondly referred to as quarter scale). I do a number of retail shows each year - including NAME (National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts) National Convention & many of the regional houseparties where I also teach workshops to other miniature enthusiasts.
