Everyone needs to take Introduction to welding! Sue is an incredible instructor and makes sure that you get a good blend of everything. You will cut, prep, weld then cut apart your piece. The entire process is explained and put into action with easy instructions and support from Sue and your fellow peers. I was given a TIG welder and was struggling to find the confidence to get going and learn. This class boosted my confidence and pushed my boundaries. Even if you only have a spec of interest in welding I would recommend this class. Sue also offers an introductory to Woodworking and Resin Work. After finishing the welding course I will absolutely be taking the other classes with her!
I took Sue's Intro to Welding class and it was AMAZING! I would not consider myself a "handy" person whatsoever and welding simply sounded interesting to me- but I knew nothing about it. Sue magically makes everyone feel super comfortable and confident about yourself in her classes. She has such a calm demeanor that even if you are nervous, her presence can make you feel more relaxed. She explains everything so well, down to each detail. I anticipate to take more of her classes and would 100% recommend doing the same!
I recently finished the Intro to Welding class and had such a good experience I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. Sue explains everything clearly and with humor. If you’ve never even been near welding equipment before, this class is for you. If you’ve done some welding but you’ve mostly been winging it and want to feel more confident, this class is for you. If even 1% of your soul thinks an weekend of learning about welding sounds like it might be kind of cool, this class is for you. If you enjoy being condescended to because you don’t already know what you haven’t been taught, this may _not_ be the class for you. The vibe is friendly and supportive but above all you will feel safe as you learn a VERY cool new thing.
Sue's intro to welding answered every question I had just starting out. The class is hands-on and I walked away feeling very comfortable Oxy-Acetylene welding, MIG welding and using a plasma cutter. The setup of all equipment and material prep was covered so I also felt good about welding at home. Sue also showed me where to get materials, other local resources for specific fabrication needs, and what to spend money on and to NOT spend money on so I've been able to get started welding on my own and without getting ripped off. Sue is a first rate instructor.
“Intro to welding” is exactly what you get! I wanted to learn how to weld but where to start? Group learning can be tough for me but the whole vibe with Sue sets you at ease. She starts with the basics, giving you a general understanding of the process and safety, then it’s hands-on. We’re talking grinders, torches, cut-off saws, you’re doing it all and you’re having FUN. I’ve been in construction and woodworking for 20 years and learned several things from Sue that translate into any kind of creative work. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I took Sue’s intro to welding class back in June and wanted to share how fantastic it was. The class is awesome for any skill set and in my case no skill set at all. Sue uses a great sense of humor and a clear passion for teaching to deliver practical knowledge around safety, techniques, and purchasing gear. I would highly recommend this class to anyone!! Thanks for a great class Sue!
Sue Latta’s Intro to Welding was awesome and answered questions, confirmed other guesses and tought new techniques. Worth every minute. Great environment for learning, exploring your own thoughts an knowledge, not intimidating and just downright fun!!!! Worth every penny and minute of time invested.
Sue’s welding class is phenomenal. In two days we did Oxy, MIG, Plasma cuts, chop saws, grinding, sanding and bending of metal. I feel confident on going off on my own now. Sue is a great teacher as well.
I recently took the two-day 12 hour Intro to Welding course offered by Sue at the Sculpture Studio. I have to say it was a fantastic experience! Sue is very knowledgeable, approachable, thorough and laid back. Her instruction in the course among other things covers safety, her personal experiences with welding and equipment, oxy torch/mig/plasma equipment setup, cutting/grinding/sanding/etc tools and methods. She provides valuable take-home handouts with information on all of these things as well. All students in the class are given individual opportunities to handle all equipment with Sue supervising directly, including welding and bending with oxy acetylene, oxy cutting, MIG welding, plasma cutting. After demonstrating skills, she will closely supervise each student's techniques and provide constant commentary on means and methods for all to learn from. Sue's self-proclaimed goal is to have students walk away from the class with a safe, competent understanding of the tools and processes involved and to arm them with the ability to confidently weld their little hearts out. In that, she has definitely succeeded! If you want an excellent class with a great teacher to learn the basics of welding, this is the one!
Sue’s introductory to welding class was above and beyond my expectations for both the class and the teaching. I wish I would have had a professor like Sue in some of my college art classes. Sue is both highly knowledgeable and passionate about her craft and it comes through in her teaching. She covered everything from basic shop safety to the specifics for oxy and mig welding, along with both plasma and torch cutting and bending. So much more information was provided from just those two days then I had expected. And the information was explained very articulately and with great enthusiasm. She was also very patient with each student and took the time to answer our questions and provide one on one instruction.
