Working with the Shade Store was a breeze. The selection at the showroom was well curated and a pleasure to work with. There were so many good options! The staff was helpful, attentive, provided samples immediately and once I was ready to order they moved fast, making a special effort to get me the shades according to my schedule. The installation was equally painless. The parts were high quality and easy to use, the instructions were good, the remotes were perfectly preprogrammed and best of all, the shades look gorgeous in the space. I didn’t have time to miss a beat or get it wrong and I made the right choice going with the Shade Store

I just got some beautiful shades for my living room and hall at the Shade Store on 4th Street in Berkley. The price was more reasonable than I expected and the expert design advice and technical support I got from Kristen made the process easy. There was a small problem with the manufacture of one of the shades, causing poor alignment in the window, but Kristen was really on top of it and got the problem efficiently resolved. I love the clean lines of the Shade Store's solar shade line and the high standard of customer service. Highly recommend!
We've been working with The Shade Store setting up the window treatments in our new home - and they have been absolutely fantastic. Our designer Andrea Contreras has been THE BEST - she has great taste, is very patient with us and we have a lot of fun together dreaming up the best solutions for our windows. We're very picky and particular with everything and Andrea and the Shade Store have always delivered to our high standards !
Kristin was really helpful with my shade projects. In-store experience was great. Installation was very professional. Follow-up and customer service was excellent. Highly recommended.
Extremely disappointing experience overall. When I first started the process of working with Tiffany at The Shade Store in Berkeley, I had no idea I would still be struggling to get the job completed over 3 months later. She was initially somewhat responsive, but not to the degree that I would have hoped, given the high cost of their products/services. Nevertheless, I was very excited to get these custom shades and was willing to pay for what I hoped was the best quality. Since that initial hopefulness, I've experienced failures with delivery and installation dates, 1 shade with a hole in it, 2 incorrectly made valances, and over a half dozen unfulfilled promises from The Shade Store customer service to replace the items with defects. All the while, no returned calls or emails from the Berkeley store.
My husband and I recently ordered custom shades for our entire home from The Shade Store and we couldn’t be happier with the final product! We worked with Kristin for the entire process and she was helpful and communicative throughout the entire project. We met her when we walked into the showroom one evening after work and began reviewing options in store. Kristin was patient and explained the different types of shades as well as the fabrics and customization offered. She sent us home with several fabric swatches and a catalog so we could review in our home. The next day we selected a swatch and emailed the information to Kristin. She set up an an in home apppointment for all of our windows to be measured. She let us know that due to the volume of orders it would be one to two weeks until our appointment. Once our measuring appointment came and went, Kristin emailed us a final quote for review online. I’ll be honest, it is definitely not an inexpensive venture but it is worth the investment. Once we approved the quote, the shades were manufactured in a few weeks and then shipped to our home. Our installation appointment was then booked for a few days after. I’d say, all in all the process took around five or six weeks from start to finish. Kristin was lovely to work with and again, we couldn’t be more pleased with the final result!
This is my second time purchasing window treatments from the Shade Store. They are great! I cannot tell you how amazing our representative, Andrea Contreras was with helping us choose the perfect window treatments. She sent out plenty of samples, answered all of my questions, and even held a virtual meeting with me so she was exactly sure that her and I were on the same page. Andrea never made me feel bad for asking so many questions and was quick to reply to all my Emails. She is a rockstar in my book!
I found The Shade Store in Berkeley via a Google search, and was very glad I did. I went to the 4th Street shop without an appointment and worked with Kristin Argue. She showed me and my husband several drawers full of options, displayed how the sun looked through the shades in the store's big windows, and provided us with swatches to take home. Kristin was so patient with all our questions, and provided us with great information on the properties of each type of shade. We opted for the Chilewich roller shades and are thrilled with how they look. The remote control was a worthwhile splurge. Great experience! I'd definitely go back.
