This page is about the 49ers and enjoying the last couple of years of watching games at the historic Candlestick Park!
Instead of building a new stadium in another city while still trying to pass the team off as the San Francisco 49ers, the York's should seriously consider a remodel of Candlestick Park.
- The foundation is already in place, thus less money would have to be spent constructing a new stadium.
- The public transport infrastructure is now being put in place along the 3rd St. corridor.
- Supporting the local neighborhood of Bayview / Hunter's Point, which can benefit from the traffic.
The building blocks are already in place to build a fantastic stadium! The Stick just needs some modernization tweaks to make it a great venue! Why demolish a stadium that's served as home to 5 Super Bowl Championship teams, a stadium that bears the name of Bill Walsh, a stadium that's hosted the World Series, the stadium that rocked to the Beatles last concert...
Why destroy this landmark? Like Lambeau Field, the Superdome, and Memorial Stadium and other great venues around the world where teams have made their names, just renovate the house and make it greater rather than moving to a new city... Why build a stadium for corporate types, fair-weather fans, and posers??? THE STICK IS FOR THE FAITHFUL!!!
**UPDATE: Now that the new stadium is being built in Santa Clara, we have a couple years left to say Good-bye to the Stick! She might not be the prettiest and the best, but the memories she has shared with us over the last few decades are priceless! Let's let her go out with a bang and field another one or two Super Bowl teams!!!
GO NINERS!!!
