Jewish Art, Photography, Judaica and Jewish HIstory
The Temple Judea Museum is located within Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel. The museum holds a permanent collection of close to 2,000 objects. In addition to regular exhibitions drawn from the collection and other exhibitions by contemporary guest artists, the museum is the custodian of, "The Prophetic Quest", the stained glass legacy of artist Jacob Landau. Created especially for the space the 10 towering windows were installed in the synagogue's main sanctuary between 1972 and 1974.
The Temple Judea Museum, founded in 1984, has as the core of its mission its treasured collections of Judaica, ephemera and visual art. The mandate of the museum begins with its collection: its preservation, acquisition, exhibition, and use as an educational tool. The museum’s active exhibition schedule showcases both its historic and contemporary collections. In addition, community outreach is essential. Museum docents give tours of exhibitions and of “The Prophetic Quest” the massive feat of stained glass art by artist Jacob Landau, installed in the congregations’ Korn Memorial Sanctuary.
