The Northampton International is the oldest UCI cyclocross race in the United States. This event will be held at Look Park on November 9th and 10th, 2019.
One the first weekend of November each year, Look Park in Florence will hosts one of the biggest cycling events in the country, the Northampton International. Since 1991, this weekend of racing is respected the world over and brings some of the best talent from the region, the nation and beyond. Traditionally, it is the second round of the Vittoria Northeast Cyclocross Series.
The Northampton International is a weekend of cyclocross racing; a discipline of cycling where racers will take on pavement, trails, grass, sand and mud using modified road bikes. This is the most spectator friendly bike race you will ever see. The course is approximately 1.5 miles in length with 7-9 minute lap times, so racers pass through the whole course several times their 40-60 minute race. Thanks to the incredibly spacious Look Park, almost the entire race is visible from everywhere on the course, with easy access to some of the most exciting sections. Every year, the hillside is lined with fans cheering on their friends and favorite racers, while the paved stretch on the lower level has seen more than its share of exciting sprint finishes.
Along with top-flight racing featuring some of the best cyclists in America and beyond, the Northampton International features events for the whole family. Look Park, located close to downtown Florence and Northampton, has ample space for families to spread out and enjoy the weekend. There’s a picnic area and a great playground for the kids, including an expo area that will host a number of fantastic food trucks. There will also be a kid’s race at 1:30 pm each day on a course designed just for them. Grab a snack, watch the race and take a look at the expo area adjacent to the course. The race is a perfect fall outing for the family, and a great way to get hooked on cyclocross!
