We decided to stay at the Westin for our 10 year wedding anniversary this past weekend Oct 6-8. The placed was so packed and busy. They had SEVERAL weddings going on throughout the whole weekend. Had I known it was that busy, I would have chosen another hotel. Although the hotel room was for the most part quiet, the long wait for the elevators and the atrocious parking was definitely a downer.. We needed a luggage cart and didn't know that only the "BELL-MAN" can utilize them. I'm not a fan of that as I don't like a strangers touching my belongings, BUT Charles was AMAZING! He asked if we were there for one of the weddings and I told him we were there for our 10 year anniversary.. He was so nice to us and took very good care of us. I asked Charles where might I find a microwave in the common spaces and he said that he will just search and bring one to us.. HE DID JUST THAT! Delivered it himself before he left for the evening. Charles made our evening and the Westin is lucky to have him. I took one star off of my review because the Westin no longer has that distinctive green, leaf soap that I look forward to smelling while at any Westin. It is now a cheap, white bar that smells disgusting. We also had an issue with a lady at the front deskblack and didn't catch her name. My husband couldn't find the key drop box and he came to the side of her desk to ask where the drop box is instead of standing in the super long linecheck out was on10/8 and she yelled, " Don't you see how long this line is and you want to ask me a question?!" Totally inappropriate and not at all the hospitality I remember with the Westin.
We just hosted my daughter's wedding at The Westin - Lombard on 10/8/2023. We hosted approximately 120 guests. Our experience was incredible. First, the location - The Westin is situated in an area where there are lots of available restaurants and shops. In fact, there is a Target in the same shopping plaza. The rooms - everyone had a comfortable stay and I heard lots of happy guests speak positively about their rooms. The food - Harry Carey's offered a great breakfast, I enjoyed a good Turkey Club Sandwich, the steak sandwich was overdone, but otherwise all was good. The restaurant provided a relaxing place for us to meet family and friends. The service was ok, but post-Covid I've come to acknowledge staffing is probably a big issue these days. The wedding event - Kelly did an amazing job orchestrating our event. She had confidence and she handled the unique details of our wedding with ease. She was easy to work with, although my daughter did 100% of the planning, so my encounter was the wedding week-end. Kelly was easy to reach when I had questions and responsive to our changes. Actually, the Jr Ballroom was perfect for our event, plenty of space and it did not require a lot of enhancements for decorations.
I've stayed at this hotel for years because of my husband's work and easily stayed more than 100 nights in the last 2.5 years. We recently moved out of the area and had to stay one night recently for a funeral. Everyone there has always been friendly, accommodating and amazing, but I'm writing this review as a special thank you to Selena in the front desk for going above and beyond to help us during a difficult time. She was able to check us in to our room although we arrived the next day due to long fight delays and provided us a late checkout we needed even though the hotel was booked at capacity. Her kindness and compassion during this tough time for us will not be forgotten. Highly recommend this hotel.
Don’t believe the google reviews. This hotel is filthy. We arrived and there was feces in the toilet, carpets were filthy, the floor we stayed on smelled like musk. My husband had to go across to Target to get cleaning supplies. The manager wanted to give us point compensation because we booked through a third party site. The points are useless because I never plan on staying here or any of their other locations again. The parking garage looks creepy and dirty. I’ve stayed at less expensive hotels with a far better atmosphere. The pictures you see on the site must be from when they first opened. My family was uncomfortable for the entire night. These are only a few pictures that I took.
Me and my family drove down to visit family. We came from N.C. On this past Saturday we decided to visit the pool. My wife and daughter went to the pool first and I was going to join moments later. When I made it down I saw my wife standing near a white police officer and a black staff member with long braids. I walked over and my wife said the officer and staff member told them they had to leave. I asked if everything was ok and was told they did nothing wrong and that the pool was closing for an hour or two for a private event. It was a few white people standing shaking their heads as they stared at us. The approach was very embarrassing as we are a black couple being escorted from the pool by an officer as if we did something wrong. When we checked in, we were told the pool was open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily and was open to all guest. We were never told it would be times where the pool would be off limits for private events. We checked in on Thursday and stayed until Sunday. However after the above event we did not go back to the pool. I am very upset by this and felt a staff member alone could have explained the situation without a police officer standing over my wife and seven year old daughter with his hands in his gun belt. I am sharing my experience because I felt training on a better approach is needed. I am a police officer in North Carolina and has never been dealt with in this manner. We were just visiting on vacation. I did receive follow up. I was told the police was contracted by a private high profile group. The hotel explained that it was all last minute and the manner turned into a police operation very fast. They explained that they also felt the weekend experience for the guest was not up to there standards as they saw the interaction between officers and the guest. I must say the staff was very professional and even a few of the officers were very awesome. However, the pool incident could have and should have been avoided. I pray this was an isolated event.
Attended a catered event. Food was atrocious. The fact that the event organizers didn't sign up for the wifi package meant you had to buy theirs, what year are we in that we need to buy the wifi?! Would not recommend for events. Catering staff however was absolutely lovely
Restaurant so-so. Second Marriott where the pool was under construction. Gym was recently renovated but equipment was in disrepair. All cardio and tv not functioning. Several treadmills inoperable. Rooms were clean and staff was great.Rooms: 5/5
Room was nice and decent size. Some of the details in the room were not great. Bedding was in relatively poor condition. Some rough edges on the desk. Bathroom is small and the shower curtain does not do a very good job of preventing water from exiting the tub during shower. No ventilation in the bathroom. No exhaust fan or anything. Gets very steamy very easily. No light in the closet. TV worked well but is very slow to respond to the remote. Kept the air in the room cranked all the way down and on high all night and all day and it barely got cold enough to be comfortable. It wasn't even that hot outside. Very friendly staff but I had to call a few times and wait quite a while to have more towels brought. Location is good but access is awkward through numerous other parking lots. Parking situation is not obvious nor the best. Disappointed that they don't offer Westin candles and other goods for sale. Much cheaper than staying in the city and only about a 45-minute drive with traffic.
I had a pleasant stay. I got a corner suite on the 14th floor. Looking at the other reviews and what I saw doesn’t jive with the bad reviews. The hotel is dated but still clean, it’s not an AC Hotel by Marriott or one that is new but it’s kept up at least my room. The bad reviews seem to portray this as a super 8 or something. - Star 1 Blinds were missing privacy screen in bathroom. A few usb plugs didn’t work One light didn’t turn on. Plugs on only one side of the bed. AC wasn’t as cool as it said on thermostats but I just lowered it. Wasn’t wowed with decor. 1 water bottle No menu or food options in the room. Safety: Car was safe and looked like a nice area
