Theater on the Lake located at Fullerton Avenue and Lake Shore Drive, is a historic building that offers breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and Chicago’s skyline. Designed in 1913 and built in 1920, Theater on the Lake, is a Prairie style structure constructed in brick with sweeping steel arched trusses throughout. Theater on the Lake offers multiple venue options and the opportunity of full use of the building with lakefront property. Polishing this existing jewel on Lake Michigan’s shore elevates Theater on the Lake to the level of the other major iconic architectural greats of Chicago. Theater on the Lake is a partnership between Lakefront Hospitality Group and the Chicago Park District.

Now open, The Lakefront Restaurant has 125 seats including intimate tables, communal seating and a lounge area. The Lakefront’s Skyline Patio provides stunning views of the Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Chef Cleetus Friedman presents classic Midwestern fare made with the freshest choice ingredients. Expect an approachable menu with a touch of whimsy for lunch, dinner and brunch services. While the beverage program highlights the craft beer and spirit scene with a diverse wine list of like-minded producers, Chef Cleetus will also utilize the venue to showcase his portfolio of beer and wine collaborations.
During the season, we feature outdoor seating for over 100 guests, food and beverage festivals and events including private dining on the lakefront. Along the lakefront you will find The Lakefront Lounge featuring cold drinks and farmers market style concessions.
Theater on the Lake is the most unique venue in Chicago with flexible event space for groups of 25 to 1,500! From corporate events to weddings and social galas, Theater on the Lake is one of the only Lakefront event venues in the City. The fully enclosed space offers clean, open sightlines without pillars and a gorgeous view South to the skyline while overlooking Lake Michigan.

Music and Theater:
The Theater features a large stage with advanced audio visual capabilities with flexible seating options to create your perfect event. There will be two types of booked performances: Live music and theater groups, from around the city and beyond. The theater will feature an abbreviated food menu and an extensive list of drinks, including creative forms of bottle service.
Parking and Directions:
Valet parking is available. Additionally, paid parking is available at the Lincoln Park Zoo located at Fullerton Avenue and Cannon Drive. CTA bus routes 151 or 156 both serve the area.
