The Thomas A. Edison Academy for Career & Technical Academy is a four-year public high school in Elizabeth in Union County, New Jersey, United States, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as part of the Elizabeth Public Schools. The Thomas A. Edison Academy For Career & Technical Education is the center for vocational and technical education in the city. Williams' Field, which holds the school's football field and outdoor track field, is adjacent to Thomas A. Edison Academy.Thomas A. Edison High School was built in 1935 and named for the inventor who worked on many of his major contributions to the scientific and commercial world working in New Jersey.As of the 2014-15 school year, the school had an enrollment of 687 students and 72.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 9.5:1. There were 510 students (74.2% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 70 (10.2% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.Awards, recognition and rankingsThe school was the 323rd-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 339 schools statewide in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2014 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools", using a new ranking methodology.
