I rented an intermediate SUV for 31 days at the end of march of 2021 returning the vehicle at the airport at the the end of April. The vehicle I was given was high on miles, had coffee-like stains and who knows what other kind of stains all over including the ceiling. The vehicle was also smelly. I can say that that vehicle was the worst rental I ever had. A few days later I returned to the airport to exchange it for something else and of course they had no vehicles available for a trade. I finally got a different vehicle the second time around, slightly better than the first vehicle. Alright, I had a vehicle. Well, I returned it back at the airport, no one there at the counter to give the keys to so I dropped the keys in the drop box. Two people there from the other rental company told me I was going to get a receipt via email. Well, the rental receipt is another story. It has been 22 days since I returned the vehicle and Thrifty has not charged my credit card and no receipt as of yet...So I call again and the customer rep is telling me that it looks like I still have the vehicle. So its is possible there is a warrant of arrest for me out there because according to them, I have not returned the vehicle. I am beyond upset and frustrated. The worst.
If I could give zero stars I’d do it. Just don’t even try them, with a Amex Travel confirmation number and my credit card charged in advance, they turned me down because they were no cars until 2 days, counter is closed and needed to make a line at Hertz counter. They absolutely don’t care about customers, I had to pick up a car with enterprise at a location out of the airport.
I was given a car with a cracked windshield! I ask the man for another car and he said no! The reeked of cigarettes! The gas tank was not full but I was told to bring back full. U have to walk a mile to even pick up your car. They should have someone bring u the as others do. I ask for a small compact car not a sub. The girl at the desk was in the back on her phone. The customer in front of me could see her. When she got done with the girl in front of me she went to the back and got back on her phone!! What kind of service is this???
It was my first time renting with Thrifty, and I enjoyed everything except when I turned in my car Sunday night and realized I left stuff behind in the car. Monday morning when I went back to inquire on this issue, the lady in the front said nothing was turned in. Went back on Wednesday thinking they probably had not cleaned it yet, so I asked again. I left behind , $140 straightener, 2 pairs of shoes 100$ and a fedora hat $40.00; totaling 280 worth of merchandise. Instead of the service cleaning department turning it in to the front desk, they said nothing was turned in by them. The receptionist told me the car was already rented and nothing was turned it at the time of cleaning the car. She could not give me more information other than I could file a police report with a careless attitude. This was my stuff not thrifty's, 1 day to the next knowing I left the merchandise behind and no one turning it in is really a disappointed. Nice people they have working for thrifty McAllen National Airport.
Just picked up my car that I am renting for a month. I get in it and it has not been cleaned or sanitized. Remnants of the previous renter in the car. We are in the middle of a pandemic I would think that a company this size would at least clean their cars in between rentals. I would think you would clean your car so your customers would want to use you again.
I've rented vehicles from here many times and have never had any issues and have never been overcharged nor had any extra fees added. Everything is real transparent, the employees are super friendly and helpful. Will definitley continue to rent vehicles from here. Last trip I took they even gave me a free premium upgrade to a Chrystler 300 because the car I reserved wasn't ready yet. I wish I was able to give more stars.
Came in from Dallas Fort Worth with a car already paid for we had it reserved for almost 2months 97$ for 2 days not bad but go to get there give them my ID and they don’t accept my card for a security deposit, so I call home who paid for the car to figure everything out and to use a credit card , but nope they wouldn’t accept it, we wasted 1000$ to come out here to McAllen to site see and we were stuck in a hotel room for 2 days because we had all our money in the flights and the car. I will never go through this company ever again , if you like run arounds and being stranded wout a car in texas than I suggest enterprise.
Nice clean car. Rate was fine but the insurance was more than the rental rate. I get the insurance for peace of mind. Easy pick up but had to park the car myself and run the keys back up to the counter. In the past an attendant has taken care of it. I have a high mileage vehicle that gets low MPG so I rent compacts for road trips.
READ carefully and ASK questions!!! My rental for 2.5 days had added fees of $103. They charge $39 for an additional driver which other companies do not change. It is not a good deal if you want your spouse to be able to drive. Skip Thrifty there are better companies around .
Do not. I repeat. Do not rent from them, even though their pieces are good. They just add fees! Never will I rent from this place ever again. Over priced. Charges for an extra driver, even though they are your spouse. Apparently they charge for mileage! Even though it’s stated on website Hotwire that it was unlimited mileage! I picked their company because it was at a good price- ended up spending so much! Next time I’ll continue to use Enterprise.
