DO NOT USE THRIFTY - THEY ARE THIEVES!!!! If i could do less than one star i would. I rented through the "Hopper" app third party paid in full. When i picked up at the Phoenix Airport I had to wait in line for an hour and a half because they onlh had one guy at the counter. Eventually, they had another associate come out and she helped us. She told me that the "additional loss dmg and prem road service" was REQUIRED. And charged me a toal of $539 - 200 was deposit. The deposit dropped off, but 338.92 stayed on my card. I called and they said that because i had accepted the "additional items " that i could not be refunded. So basically they STOLE 339$ i asked if it was actually REQUIRED for me to have had those items and eventually they guy said No. But he still wouldn't return my money. DON'T USE THRIFTY!!!
GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY!!!! I booked 7 days in advance, when I got there they didn’t have a car for me, didn’t offer any options, they left me stranded!!! To make it worse I had to spend the next 2 hours trying to get a refund from a third party collision damage plan. The only explanation I was offered was weak at best. This clearly happens regularly by the complete apathy of the staff. And something they seem to miss or not care about, is that it cost me money because I had to make last minute plans at a much higher cost… I truly will NOT use this company again and recommend you not to, they really screwed me on my rental, spend an extra few bucks and go with a trust worthy company.
My car smelled absolutely awful of smoke. I called and told the lady on the phone. And she told me I had to fill out a paper online and some one would get back to me. No one ever did. And the seats were all a mess. The car looked/smelled as if someone in a factory used it as a work car. Absolutely terrible experience.
We rented a car from Thrifty. The car had a system message come on we didn't know if the car was able to travel. Traveling from Houston to St Louis. Outside of Marshall Tx the message came on. It was late so we stopped for the night thinking in the morning we would get it taken care of. Well after being on hold for over 45 mins we got a human rep only to be put on hold again to wait for a specialist. After another 30 or so mins he came on talked a good game very friendly gave us a good spill. No local rentals available. We thought we were all ready to take it to the local Firestone and have them check it out. We got to Firestone no voucher they had not heard from Thrifty. We waited. Still no voucher. We were ready to just pay for it ourselves to get us back on the road. Knowing we would never get our money back. We called again to Thrifty to be on hold for another hour or over before we got someone and we refused to be put on hold again. They talked to Friestone and hemmed hawed around until Firestone did the work just to get us back on the road and said they may or may not get paid but for us not to worry about. Firestone the best. THRIFTY NOT SO GOOD.
Had made reservations month in advance, arrived 9p ATL and no cars were available. Waited 1hr before car was available. Missed our dinner reservations and family plans. If I was given a heads up, I would of made other plans. So disappointed.
I had an absolutely terrible experience with Thrifty Rent A Car at the Shreveport Airport, and looking at the other reviews it seems like a common theme. I made a reservation through the national Thrifty office and received an e-mail confirmation to pick up my rental car at 3pm when I arrived. When I arrived to pick up the rental car, the woman at the desk said nothing was available. I asked how it was possible no cars were available when I had a reservation confirmation. Her exact words were, “A confirmation doesn’t mean anything. They give out reservations even when we don’t have any cars.” Then she said to just wait in the terminal and check back to see if a car was available. When I asked if there was a phone number I could call to check, rather than waiting in the terminal she said, “We’re not allowed to give out our number.” At this point her tone became extremely rude. I asked if I could leave my phone number with her. She wrote it down on a piece of scrap paper, stuck it under a pile of other papers, and promised to call me back. I called the phone number for the national Thrifty office. They said there was nothing they could do, because they make reservations based off the local desk’s “claimed” availability, which they consistently overbook. They also said I would have to work it out with the local manager. When I told them the local desk wouldn’t give me their phone number, I was told I would have to find a time when the local manager was available and work it out myself. I checked back again at the desk, but nothing was available for my reservation. I ended up taking an Uber to get to my hotel. It is now the next day, and I still have not heard from Thrifty. I have no way to contact them, since they refuse to give their phone number. My only option now is try to go to their desk at the airport again, which is absolutely absurd. I hope that people read my review and others when looking for rental options in Shreveport. I hope it will save them from having a similar experience.
They put me in a car that was making a scraping noise and when I came back in to exchange it, didn't leave the premises, just turned around in the parking lot they accused me of hitting a curb and said I damaged the car. VERY rude and unprofessional girl that worked there tried to tell me I had to sign a report saying I wrecked it or they were going to bill me the damages. I had to get my attorney and their manager involved. Never never never rent a car from them. Pay the extra couple of bucks and don't get framed for damages because their inspector didn't do his job. Straight up scam.
Abysmal service. First they charge us double the price of the car for useless insurance that doesn't cover anything at all, something that wasnt spoken of once at any point in the process of confirming and picking up the rental at the airport. Following that, trying to get ahold of them to work out the issues with this obvious overcharge that left us without use of a credit card for the entirety of the trip because the charges had left it maxed out was entirely impossible. At every turn the customer service reps at the airport would dog us and ignore us without ever having a chance to speak to a real human being. And the final cherry on top of this absolutely god-awful experience? My grandmother lost her phone at the airport while turning the car back in, and getting ahold of the rental services for such a simple task was absolutely impossible. Several times I was actually *hung up* on while trying to get a representative on the line to speak with them about the simple task of giving me back my lost property. One would think this would be a pretty easy and straightforward thing to do right? Apparently not to Thrifty. My advice? Never book with these absolute clowns.
I had no problem at all. Both beginning and end was quickly done and I was out of there. The SUV I rented was very clean and the rates are very appealing. I have also rented mid size cars etc. I would recommend this rental car agency.
I wouldn't put no stars if it would let me. I will definitely not use this company again.. We rented a car for our son to go back to Dallas to fly back home. First thing got there to pick car up put it on my husband Credit Card the nite before, thinking it paid for.. WRONG.. I had my Visa/Debit card.. VISA bank card.. NO ,THEY DON'T TAKE THAT.. SECOND...Took out the extra insurance, just on case.. For one thing it seemed like they wanted us to purchase it, Thank God we did. THIRD... Our son was 100miles away from the airport, when he got a flat.. while searching the car for spare and jack,he was on the phone with Emergency services. They told him to drive the car to get tire fix .. Hello.. it's flat... thank god he knows how to change a tire and had everything he needed. Point is they wouldn't even send anyone out, what if there wasn't any equipment to change it... Waste of the extra money and our time.. NEVER AGAIN... I WILL STAY WITH AVIS...
