I rented a car from this location recently, and within hours the emergency alert came on saying the oil was too low. I attempted to return it to the Akron-Canton airport and everyone had left. We spent two hours on the phone with the central Thrifty people and eventually they agreed we could leave the car and keys there. The next day we received no confirmation or follow up. Seeking a refund, we spent another hour on the phone with their central billing group, which initially offered various amounts of money for a future rental. After a lot of back and forth they stated we should be receiving some kind of refund, but were unclear on details. The individual said they would email a confirmation of this refund but did not do so. We stopped by the desk again at the airport and the employee stated "All it needed was an oil change" and told us it had already been rented to another customer. No apologies were given. I will update this review if I receive a refund but at this time cannot recommend this rental.
I was nervous to rent from this place after I saw the horrible reviews and hidden fees people experienced. This was not the case for me. The check in was smooth and fast, the agent was very friendly. The car was in good condition and did not smell. I used the after hours drop off which was simple and upon review of my final charge I was not charged anything additional. Pleasantly surprised!
We were charged an extra $100 for a cleaning fee from the receiving drop-off site when we had the car for 8 hours and upon picking it up, it reeked of cigarette smoke. You'd think the cars would be cleaned thoroughly regardless considering we're in a pandemic. My partner has been on hold with corporate customer service trying to dispute this fee yet the rep is saying only the receiving Thrifty office can change/void this fee.
I rented a vehicle from them on 5/23/2020 and returned the vehicle on 5/28/2020. 5 days and I was charged $990.92. I was charged $132.00 for fuel but was given the car with 1/4 tank so brought it back the same way. Charged $100 cleaning fee, I am assuming this is what they charge if someone smokes in the vehicle and I do not smoke! Also charged $400 for Other/ Vehicle damage- THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE TO THIS VEHICLE. Last, I was charged &65.00 for a let’s fee however I called twice and had the rental continued so no late fee should have been applied. I returned after hours so I assume they just decided they could charge whatever they wanted. If you want to keep your money, DO NOT rent from this company. They are thieves!!! I have called and was left on hold for 2 hours and emailed and have gotten no response as of today!!
I rented the car for my son, who was coming to town, when he arrived his credit card would not scan & they refused to run it manuallyagainst their policy, so he couldnçt get the already paid for car. My husband picked him up because the agency had meanwhile closed for the night. The next morning my husband went back with him & put the deposit on his card, but through their policies, the only way my son could then drive the car, was if the whole charge for the car was put on my husbands card, which they did. However, it was never cancelled off of my card! I have now been fighting with THRIFTY since 1/17/20. They have not cancelled the reservation off my card & my son turned in the car on the 21st. I have yet to have them put anything back on my card! So at the present moment, it has cost us $574.00 to rent a car for 5 days!
I booked my car rental over a week in advanced. I went in at scheduled pickup date, then they said my Huntington bank card wouldn't work and they wouldn't take cash. They refused to assist further. Not a call to a district manager, not a knock on the networking guys door, nor a plausible explanation as to why it wouldn't work, just... "Thrifty - We Don't Take Huntington, And Will Ruin Your Vacation."
They charged me for a smoke smell in the car when no one smoked and it was off of someone’s body. They refused to refund I ask multiple times if someone just stank and the car smelled of body odor did they charge a fee. They refused to answer my question. I do not recommend and after speaking with some people they have had the same issiues with them giving excuses they couldn’t get their deposit back. If I could give a 0 rating I would.
Thrifty is certainly not Customer Service driven. When I picked up the vehicle I was told they only had one vehicle in the class I chose. Customer Service told me they could only get me a different vehicle if I were to pay for an upgrade. I decided that I would overlook that incident. But then when I went to return the vehicle I went to return it in the lot just like I've done with every other rental car agency. They made me go into the airport to get my receipt instead of taking care my needs in the lot. While at the counter that customer service ignore me and continued to answer phone calls. After this experience I will make sure I will no longer rent any vehicle from Thrifty.
Car reeked of cigarettes when I picked it up, but they didn't have any other cars. Then they charged me $100 interior cleaning fee after I returned it without authorization and refuse to refund it or provide context regarding the $100 fee. Spend up to $99 more for another car rental company. Thrifty has the reputation they have for a reason. Thieves thieves thieves.
Please skip their company!! I booked prior to 2 weeks. And when went to pickup, they said there are no cars available. They didn’t call me to warn ahead of time. They will make you stuck there forever! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THRIFTY!! They will make sure you will have worse day ever! I repeat again please do not reserve from them!
