Working with Thurston Bros and Carrie to dial in a custom Thedi jacket. You dream it and they will help you come up with it. The fit process was great and they sent leather swatches to help me decide. After a few measurements, pictures, back and forth. Measurements again. We sent the details over to Thedi. The final product took a little over 6 months but it's worth waiting for. This was started in November and Thedi had to attend a few shows as well as the holidays. I cannot say how fast the other custom makers time lines are currently. My Custom jacket is beautiful and the quality and finishing is excellent. The color is difficult to capture on camera and I can tell it's going to age quite nicely. I'll be honest I may or may not have gained some weight in the past 6 months but now more motivation to get back in shape. I will be brainstorming an Aero with them late winter of this year or early spring of next. Cheers.
I just received my Aero Daytona from Thurston Bros today and to say I’m impressed is an understatement! I am so glad I chose to go with their fit process of making sure the jacket of your dreams becomes a reality. Carrie and I exchanged over 30 Emails over these few months to make sure this Dayton was perfect! ! The options you can choose from are endless and you will end up with a one of a kind masterpiece. I’ve been on the hunt for a forever jacket for a long time and after hearing about Thurston Bros. and they’re amazing customer service I knew I had to give them a shot. They made the process of building my forever jacket a reality and a completely enjoyable experience. I could not be happier with my custom ordered Aero jacket from Thurston Brothers. I asked quite a few questions via Facebook messenger over the course of several days before I decided to make the purchase. They answered every question in a timely manner and worked with me to create the perfect jacket. The fit process is a huge bonus when ordering through them. They sent multiple leather and lining samples along with a "fit" jacket after the purchase. We tweaked a few measurements based on the jacket they provided. The custom jacket I received today was perfect in every way!!

I custom ordered an Aero ladies 1930s half belt jacket in rust goat suede and am overall very pleased with the product and service. The jacket fits as expected, and the leather quality and craftsmanship are superb. My order after going through the fit-jacket process was submitted in early December, and I received the jacket in late July, so it took a bit over 7 months, which was much longer than the 10-14 week wait time that is posted on their site. I think part of that had to do with the pattern change--Thurston Bros. only had the "hooch hauler" style available as a fit-jacket, so they had Aero use that jacket's pattern when making my 1930s half belt to insure the same fit. So FYI, if you end up ordering a jacket that uses a different pattern than your fit jacket, it might take a lot longer. Aero also forgot to put the inner pocket on my jacket, but Carrie and team were able to make that alteration using the nickel hardware I originally requested at their shop within a few days. Overall, working with Carrie throughout the process was great--she was highly responsive over email, answered all of my questions, and kept me informed on the status of my jacket. I wouldn't hesitate to order from Thurston again or send a jacket to them for repair--the only negatives long wait time, missing pocket were Aero problems, and Carrie handled them well. A couple additional thoughts/tips: - If there is a particular leather and color that you are interested in, make sure it is available and can be used for the jacket you intend to order. I found out after I had already started the custom order process that the pig suedes were being phased out, so the rust goat suede was the only suede option which was fine because it was my first choice anyway. Carrie also had to get Aero's approval to use the rust suede on a 1930s half belt because it had been previously reserved for the "majestic" jacket. - If you aren't very familiar with leather jackets, note that Aero jackets are much stiffer and heavier than your typical "fashion" brand jacket made out of lambskin or calfskin. My fit jacket was made out of Vicenza horsehide, and it was much too stiff and heavy for my liking but I'm not sure how they feel after break-in. Personally, I would only order a jacket in suede and the goat suede is still quite robust, but I also wasn't looking for something tough enough to wear on a motorcycle. YMMV.

The process included receiving two different fit jackets and endless questions on my part. Carrie's patience is truly unmatched and her expertise is second to none. I was ultimately guided to a perfect CXL FQHH Premier Highwayman with all the modifications I wanted executed perfectly by Julie at Aero Scotland. TLDR; My jacket is even better than I hoped for. I had a phenomenal experience with my custom order. I would absolutely recommend a custom jacket from Thurston Bros in the future to anyone who is looking. Ordering experience: Carrie and the team were fast to respond, detail oriented and very patient. I was not an easy customer. I had lots of questions, quite a few concerns, and changed my mind on a few details during the final ordering process. They took care of me. I’m an athletic build and anything that fits my chest comfortably is far too large in the waist. I was leery of sizing the jacket, especially doing it remotely with a standard jacket and pictures. I wanted it to fit with enough room to layer, but not be overly large if worn on it’s own. I also wanted a mix of features found on a few different Vanson jackets. Together we worked through every detail of the jacket, right on down to the hardware. I wound up with a Vanson Renegade with Daredevil-style collar/lapels and zipper profile, front coin pocket, shoulder gussets, and a removable in belt, all done in the Black Bainbridge leather. By the end of it all, I think we had close to 150 emails back and forth. They even worked with me to ensure the fitting jacket and my custom jacket would arrive when I’d be home to receive them. Absolutely top notch customer service. The jacket: I was really nervous on the day my jacket arrived. As a fully custom product, there are no refunds, and there’s always the chance of a miscommunication or oversight. I was apprehensive about the Black Bainbridge since I didn’t want an overly glossy leather, and because of the features we had selected for my jacket the cut was a little out of the ordinary for them. And again, fit is usually an issue for me. All that melted away the first time I put the jacket on. They nailed it. The fit is absolutely perfect, not too large or small, roomy enough to layer and move in, not baggy when worn with only a t-shirt. The length of body and sleeves are great. The leather is beautiful straight from the factory. It’s really hard to capture the actual look in pictures, but it’s semi-gloss and a little rigid when you first get it, but softens with wear relatively quickly. It’s heavy and I love the feeling of wearing it. All the features we discussed work together really well. Although the jacket pulls from a couple standard models, all the options came together like they have practiced this exact “blend” a million times already. I waited a while to do a review for a couple of reasons. I wanted to make sure my initial impressions were correct, find out how my jacket would wear in, and generally gauge how happy I was with the final product after some use. As I write this I’m in Italy. I’ve had my jacket for about six months and wear it at every opportunity. I even brought it here with me. The leather is starting to take on character, softening and creasing beautifully. It fits better now than when I first got it. It goes with pretty much anything I want to wear. It gets complimented by strangers. It has absolutely ruined me for any non-custom jacket. I couldn’t be happier with it six months down the line and I will only love it more with more use. Thurston Bros and Vanson really knocked it out of the park. If you think you want a custom jacket, I can 100% confirm that yes you do, and you should trust Thurston to make it happen.

Ordering my Aero Sheen jacket was a lengthy process, but an enjoyable one. Carrie is great to work with. She is always professional, patient, and a pleasure to collaborate with. We literally emailed back and forth 40 times over 6 months with one phone call. I was very apprehensive about the finished product mainly because of my body type and the $1200.00 total cost. I’m a size large torso, XL chest, and medium length arms. Hence, off the rack clothes and jackets rarely fit well without customization. I Received my jacket two days ago and it fits me perfectly. I really love it , and I keep putting it on and off throughout the day. I wish it wasn’t August so that I could wear it outside comfortably. Oh and the battered steer hide is gorgeous and already broken in. I did try on two fit jackets. One in badalassi which was very stiff and squeaky. Seriously very squeaky…embarrassingly squeaky. The other was horsehide that was really stiff. Im not sure why people want to torture themselves with a very stiff jacket but to each his own. I don’t think that I’m going to need another leather jacket for at least a decade, but if and when I do I will definitely buy from Thurston Brothers again.
