Food is terrible! Salad was chunks of iceberg lettuce drowning in dressing and nothing else. I was jealous that another review said they had a half slice of cucumber. Chicken katsu and fried rice was flavorless and needed a lot of sauce to be palatable. Gyoza was decent. Sushi was absolutely a joke. Dragon roll supposedly had eel but couldn’t find it. The waiter took it back and was told by the female chef it was along the side of the roll. I took it apart to see and, at best, there might have been eel skin. The taste was absolutely bland. I’ve had better sushi from Walmart. Skip this place. Waitstaff was nice but that’s the only thing good about this restaurant. They skimp on quality and it shows.
We came in to order to-go food….Our customer service was okay, as the girls running the registers seemed way too overwhelmed…Despite the half empty restaurant. We ordered hibachi chicken, hibachi steak, hibachi soup, salads, and a California Roll. The chicken was dry and tough with virtually no flavor. The steak was dang-near raw and also had no flavor. The soup tasted weird. And the salads are lettuce and a single slice of cucumber. All of the dressings and sauces didn’t taste right or were simply the wrong dressings. While the sushi didn’t taste bad, we weren’t given soy sauce or chopsticks. Definitely would not recommend. We will go to Shogun next time.
We went for lunch alittle after 12 on a Friday and thankfully it wasn't crazy busy. The wait staff is very friendly! The food was really good. My husband is not the biggest fan of Asian food but he agreed to go with me and he really enjoyed it!Food: 4/5
Freshest sushi and sashimi in Statesboro. I’ve tried three other popular Japanese/sushi restaurants in town, and I’d have to drive to Savannah for better. The salmon sashimi was rich, buttery, and tender. Large cuts. This was my third time here. All of the sushi has been very good. Order the avocado salad for an avocado fix. The service is always quick and kind for lunch and dinner. Relaxed social environment.
Noodle lovers beware, everything else very good. I was somewhat disappointed to see they didn't serve ramen, however they do serve udon so I tried it. Unfortunately it did not meet expectations. The good: noodles were soft and chewy and generally tasty, all the ingredients tasted fresh. The bad: the broth was virtually flavorless, the egg was fried instead of a soft boiled marinated egg and the "toppings" did not compliment the soup very well IMO. They were all regular hibachi veggies. Perhaps I was expecting too much but I have already tried good udon so this was just disappointing. Redeeming quality: The Choose 2 lunch menu was an excellent value and everything it included was good.
Have been a handful of times now and one of the few places in town I go for sushi here and Shogun. My personal favorite is the Yellowtail Special. Overall solid quality at a decent price.Food: 4/5
To be honest the only reason I gave it a two was because of the service. The young man who took my order was very pleasant and patient. The food, to be generous was not very good. The hibachi soup had no flavor at all. The meal came with a salad and it should have just said lettuce because there was one half of a slice of cucumber in my salad. The ginger dressing was not very good either. Getting to the entree, the fried rice was scooped out of a rice maker and not warmed up on the griddle. The steak had no seasoning in the shrimp was large but also flavorless. I was expecting more, similar Shogun. Shogun food quality is far and above the better of the two places. I know this is just my opinion anybody else should just experience it themselves.
I was craving hibachi but this place didn’t help! It wasn’t fresh tasting whatsoever and I did not enjoy my food. It tasted weird. The portion sizes are not worth the price and I’m just not coming back here.
I love coming here for some good sushi and hibachi at a good price, but wow, did this blonde server just ruin an otherwise usually good experience. From the get go she seemed reluctant to waitress for us and was very inattentive. She did not offer to ever refill our drinks and did not ask if we wanted any sauces, we had to ask for them ourselves. Yes it's one bad waitress out of the many good but she really gave a bad experience.
Enjoyed our lunch. My sister had hibachi shrimp and I had hibachi steak. The ginger dressing on our salad was DELICIOUS! Our nice server said they make it fresh. Only small negative was booth wasn't comfortable, hard seat and table too high.
