This month I had the pleasure to experience the most tasty tam sauce to go along the perfectly made egg ball I bought That was made freshly for me and friend that took ten mins . Another late night after being hungry from doing a customer hair I purchased the mac & cheese pie ; which tasted good and hearty . The sauce wasn’t the same taste that day but salmon cake tasted just as good as last time . Would recommend you to try this bakery for a late night snack . I will be back seeing how I was told they make fresh bread every day which is a good thing to be doing for this area . affordable prices for the items I bought btw .
The taste of the currant rolls here are not consistent. Over the years I can tell they changed bakers. I even asked one day, and they said yes, they changed bakers. I still buy it though. I ordered food from here twice. I find it to be overcooked and oily. The macaroni pie has a unique taste to it. It's just too oily. It's an okay bakery.
This place is nice, clean and the they have a good setup but I didn't particularly enjoy any of the food. I sampled a variety, the Curry beef, roti, puri, polourie, veg Chowmein, fish cake and egg ball. Then bought a bag of whole wheat tennis roll. Spent over $50 and was not happy. A lot of the food lacked flavor, texture was good but it was not quite there. They forgot to pack my tennis role and I had to go back the following day to get it and they gave me white not wheat. I don't plan to return but thought I would try out my fellow Guyanese. I will stick with Linda.
Food is not consistent, the price is outrageous an it also changes every two days depending on who serves you. like the money going in their pockets The old staff who were aware of everything need to come back. There were two Trini ladies who were respectful an organized. Then I believe the owners grandson was also on top of things. The older ladies there now don’t know anything and food taste old at times.
Feel like I'm eating a oil filled pone. Very greasy . I'm so disappointed. I waited two weeks for this. If I was pregnant my kid would have a birth mark. 1/22/19 I'm beginning to think someone went back to Guyana with the recipe book... I'm starting to think that this place is falling off? I'm starting to think that this place is using cheap ingredients! I'm starting to think that this place is giving me their leftovers! Either that or someone can't bake! The knife my husband use to cut the coconut roll would not go through the roll. It was literally hard as a rock. There is nothing worse than traveling far from your home to purchase one of your favorite foods only to be disappointed.
Spend $28.00 on two coconut bread 4 currant slice and 2pk tennis rolls coconut bread fall apart and and taste disgusting. Threw away everything as soon as I got off the 46 bus.
Overcooked rice and the goat chicken tasted alright. Next time I’ll try the baked goods rather than the food.
I've been coming to Tota's for years. They have some of the best butter bread I've ever had. My elderly mom will only eat this bread and no other. She also loves the soups here and I love all the food especially their roti, the flavors/spices are amazing. Definitely give them a try if you're in the neighborhood.
Never lucky to get a fresh currant roll or a piece of pone here, but tried my luck today. Saturday morning service was Awful as usual and pastries were dry, hard, stale not fresh and a waste of my money. I just put it all in the garbage. Should have delivered it back to the unpleasant old woman that sole it to me. Never going there again and neither is my family. Forced to put one star but it’s a zero for me.
