The Society owns and maintains two museums:
THE COUNTRY VILLAGE (the corner of West Creek and Ide Roads) hosts two Apple festivals, the Apple Blossom Festival in May and the Apple Harvest Festival in September. The Village is also available for private events, and special tours by appointment.
The historic VAN HORN MANSION (2165 Lockport Olcott Rd. in Burt) is a beautifully restored mansion open for tours Sundays from 1-4pm (closed January - March).
The Society has two festivals each year:
THE APPLE BLOSSOM FESTIVAL held the third Sunday in May and THE APPLE HARVEST FESTIVAL held the last Sunday in September, both on the grounds of the Country Farm Village Museum. The Van Horn Mansion is open for tours on those days as well.
The Society has several holiday events each year:
THE VAN HORN MANSION CANDLELIGHT TOURS held on select Fridays and Saturdays in October. Check out the Van Horn Mansion Facebook page for more details.
THE VAN HORN MANSION CHRISTMAS CAROL SING is usually held the first or second Sunday in December, 2-4pm.
The Town of Newfane Historical Society exists to:
Collect, preserve, and maintain artifacts, relics, books, papers, and other articles touching the past history of the Town of Newfane, and the customs and modes of the inhabitants thereof;
Exhibit such historical data to the public;
Designate places of historic interest in the Town of Newfane with appropriate markers or monuments;
Acquire historical sites in the Town of Newfane for the purpose of preservation and maintenance of such sites; and
Perpetuate the memory of those inhabitants of the Town of Newfane who, by their labor and heroism, have made substantial contributions to the history of the Town of Newfane.
